Hindustan: Rajneeti khatm Kaam Shuru!

Hindustan has launched a new initiative ‘Rajneeti khatm……Kaam Shuru’. This comes in close succession to the campaign they had earlier ‘Aao Rajneeti Karein’ during the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarashand Vidhan Sabha elections which was a great success.

As the apt title suggests this new initiative is to create a dialogue between the citizens and their government. Hindustan and Hindustan Times are coming together  to create a platform to help the new government chart out the development agenda for the next five years for the State.

It was a thumping victory for the new government and its new leadership. In the Uttar Pradesh elections the polling percentage beat all records of previous elections and this was a sure indication of the willingness on the part of the citizens to take part in the electoral process. Hence ‘Rajneeti’ platform from Hindustan is helping citizens reach their agenda to the government with an objective to transform cities in UP into engines of economic growth and development. At present Uttar Pradesh  is at crossroads of development as the nation lies in waiting to witness the transformation of  “Uttar Pradesh” to “Uttam Pradesh”.

The campaign was launched on 28th April 2012 asking the citizens to indentify three top issues of their city and suggestions to tackle them and reach their letters to the Chief Minister. The letter format was printed in Hindustan across all editions in Uttar Pradesh. This was the first stage of the launch. After this came the second stage whereby a seminar was conducted based on the key issues emerging in each unit . Experts from Agra, Allahabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Meerut, Moradabad and Varanasi attended these seminars. They were asked to craft solutions for the betterment of life, growth and development of the cities. Priority was given to issues such as civic amenities, employment , health and safety.

The letters were funneled and sent to the Chief Minister at Lucknow by way of a write up on each city’s key concern and possible solutions. The campaign also decided that  one letter from all that were received would be selected and the writer would get an opportunity to go to Lucknow and meet the Chief Minister personally.

The campaign was such a huge success that Hindustan offices received more than a staggering 62000 letters in a span of twenty days. They were encouraged to write in through activation programmes on ground, a high impact outdoor campaign, radio, online and through editorial think pieces.
