Adgully Exclusive | Repackaged Ramayan will be crisper and tighter: Imagine's Saurabh Tewari

Imagine has brought back the show that had caused the turn around for the channel- its popular mythological series 'Ramayan' in a new avatar. The show has been re-launched and the re-run started from 16th of May 2011. The show will be telecast from 7.00 to 8.00 pm, every Monday-Thursday.

Saurabh Tewari, Head ' Programming (Fiction), Imagine TV, tell Adgully, "The re-launch idea was always there at the back of our minds, Imagine has a personal attachment with the show that got the ball rolling for us. So we thought of a re-run of the show. Though the charm of the series is retained the show has been repackaged and redesigned. We have made it more crisp."

The show which was earlier a series of 300 episodes now has been shortened to a series of 104 episodes. "We have kept the integral parts of story telling intact and added a lot devotional bhajans which will be helpful in building connectivity through the story," he adds.

The show will be telecast on the 7.00pm time -band so as to also add a good push to the viewership for the shows on the prime-time band. Currently the show is being promoted on the channel itself, but gradually Imagine looks at promoting the re-run through on-ground activities. Tewari adds that the channel will also be promoting the bhajans separately.

Ramayan is based on Valmiki's Ramayan and Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas. It is the purest story of all times, the classic tale of the triumph of good over evil. It is a tale that every generation can relate to and has an appeal that cuts across ages and genders. | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
