Riding on multiple narrative concepts: Producer, Saurabh Tewari

Writer, Television Producer and Managing Director at Nautanki Films Pvt. Ltd. Saurabh Tewari who has been creatively involved in the television industry since  more than six years strongly believes in presenting fresh and new concepts.

After schooling in Lucknow he pursued his   bachelor’s degree in Arts, from  Lucknow University.  In the year 1999 he enrolled in the  Asian Academy of Film and Television to gain proficiency  in his chosen profession.

Tewari has worked with renowned channels  such as Colors, Zee TV and Imagine TV.  Prior to his present post he was Head of Programming – Fiction with Imagine TV.

In conversation with Adgully, Saurabh Tewari, MD, Nautanki Telefilms, shared with us some insights about his work and ongoing projects.

Saurabh has been associated with the  industry since  quite some time now. When asked about his experience  in the industry he said, “ It’s been good till now  as ‘Madhubala’ is doing very well and now we also have ‘Do Dil Ek Jaan’ in hand.”

As on date Nautanki Telefilms show Madhubala is the highest TRP earning show running on Colors TV.

Sharing about the different  kinds of concepts that  interest  him, with reference  to his new show, he said,  “ The fresh concept and creative narrative will always work. As in the case of our new show ‘Do Dil Ek Jaan’ which  is based on social issues related to migrants who are helpless in a new city but manage to  live through their ordeals.”

He is of the opinion that stories based on  reality can really do well.  Adding further he asserted that, “Today people don’t follow or watch channels but the shows running on those channels.”

Continuing further he said, “Presently there are 4-5 shows running on 5-6 Hindi GEC’s and so the audience today have a wide choice of 30 shows running on these channels in prime slots.  Presenting different shows with   different narrative concepts is what is really important.” 

Last year  they launched their  highly popular and ongoing show  ‘Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon’ and this year they have launched their latest  offering ‘Do Dil Ek Jaan’ presently  airing on Life OK.

Apart from producing television shows, Nautanki Telefilms is soon expected to  make their foray into Bollywood with their first film which will  go onto  the floors this year.
