LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2011: Day 5 at a glance!

Finally the last day of the glamorous Lakme Fashion Week came up and it was worth the weight. With a collection from his label titled "Shift", Nimish Shah revealed a look in which garments were created in a more contemporary style as the theme of the collection was Jacques Tati featured in a new image. For fashion that has the dual appeal of style and eco friendly touches then Nimish Shah offers many options.

Handmade shoes with large doses of glamour and touches of quirky kitsch made an impressive impact when Rohan Arora had the models haute stepping on the ramp wearing his collection called "Leela". From corduroy with block and screen prints, to chicken legs and sheep skin leather, pure satin for uppers and mahogany wood for heels, Rohan's unconventional use of materials added to the footwear line.

Inspired by Buddhism and Krishna the handbags collection by Shagufta Quamar for the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011 season, was an artistic mix of tradition with abstract touches. Calling the collection "Moksha - The Pursuit of Inner Peace" the bags were an interesting blend of art and fashion.

Presenting a perfect prêt line at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011, Atithi Gupta gave the stylish global woman some interesting and striking fashion options. Calling the collection "Side'an" (which means beautiful female form in Irish) there were dual fabrics that were rouched and pleated for front panels of blouses, dresses in geometric patches and at other times as side drapes which produced an innovative look for the line.

For Sabah Khan her inspirations are quirky but rendered onto her garments very cleverly. From "Tuk Tuk" inspired by the auto rickshaw last season, this time for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011 Sabah's collection for her label Sabashe pays tribute to her tailors.

It's the little things in fashion that make all the difference to Sougat Paul for his label SOUP. Inspired by the Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's whose films have a complex theme, Sougat's collection had style, drama, colour and that touch of creativity. Working around a mosaic like background of geometric embroidery that textured the fabrics, Sougat had a line of the prettiest evening dresses in muted shades of pale green, old rose, bright orange, pale grey, black and mauve, which reflected the inspiration of the collection.

Inspired by the drama and music of the Puccini opera, La Tosca, Nandita Thirani's creativity moved into a Victorian era as she dreamt up a line of beautiful creations, titled "La Tosca Du Mumbai". Bringing the fashion traits of Mumbai and combining them with the costumes of the opera's Victorian silhouettes, Nandita presented a mélange of gorgeous creations at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011.

Preeti S Kapoor dreamt up a delightful fashion story for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011. It was a tale seeped in the beauty of the 19th century era which revealed the travels of a woman who moved from the stylish city of Kolkata to the vibrant swinging life of France.

Working around an organic and eco-friendly theme, Digvijay Singh's "Geometrees" collection for the "Bhusattva" label was a delightful creative blend of style and social awareness at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011. For lovers of the environment and social responsibility, Digvijay Singh's "Geometrees" collection will be a valued addition to their wardrobe this season.

For Vivek Kumar his Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011 was an inner fashion revolution. Calling the collection "Antarkranti" the garments were an interesting blend of innovations and experiments.

Short listed by the Lakmé Fashion Week Advisory board, Aneeth Arora and Kallol Datta 1955 presented their collections for the Berlin Calling show at Lakmé fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011. This initiative supported by IMG Reliance and IMG Fashion teams will see Indian representation at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week ' Berlin - Autumn Winter 2012 in January. The platform will not only support the selected designer in presenting the runway show but will also ensure that the opportunity is leveraged effectively in representing India internationally.

Graduating three giant wooden frames hung from the ceiling edged with hundreds of bulbs. The long glass ramp gleamed under the lights. The stage framed in ornate silver with long sheer curtains hid the excitement behind. The packed Ballroom of The Grand Hyatt with standing room only, had hundreds waiting to get in to catch a glimpse of the amazing Lakmé Grand Finale; which ended the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011, with the outstanding collection from the "Badshah of Bollywood Couture", Manish Malhotra.

As the man behind this fantastic show took his bow, Manish Malhotra rocked down the ramp with the beautiful Kareena Kapoor and confetti bursts showered the audience, to mark the end of one of the most memorable Lakmé Grand Finales that launched the Lakmé ABSOLUTE Line with the gorgeous collection of Manish Malhotra.

What an end it was to Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011 which will be remembered for months as the night of ultimate style, glamour, beauty and couture.
