LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2011: Day 3 at a glance!
Ruchika Sachdeva's architecturally inspired collection was marvelous. Using an unconventional print technology with High density silicon to present a futuristic look for the garments, Ruchika Sachdev's collections called "Bodice" drew inspirations not only from architecture and history but even machinery. Ultra chic women's wear which almost bordered on demi couture, the line of jackets, skirts, dresses and gowns followed the theme of the collection with the very boxy and rectangular silhouettes.
"Don't throw your old garments or rags away" was the strong message from Shivaji Dutta's Blank Spot label. Recycling is this designer's mantra for fashion and this time Shivaji was inspired by the human mind and its many complex layers of thought. This concept was very cleverly brought onto the catwalk with unconventional construction.
There was a fashionable calm that descended on the catwalk as Harangad Singh displayed his Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011 collection "Azure". His tranquil inspirations for men's and women's wear were the clouds at night and the sparkle of stars in a serene space whereas Vijay Balhara celebrated the "Age of Innocence" with his collection of the same name at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Fashion 2011. Weaving a romantic story of timeless elegance and inspired by eras gone by Vijay moved into the past, drawing creative direction from European Vintage and Indian Heritage trends. | By Aanchal Kohli [aanchal(at)adgully.com]
