Every actor demands a good Director, Story and Character: Shahid Kapoor

An ace actor and an exceptional dancer Shahid Kapoor started his career by working in music videos and advertisements. He made his Bollywood debut with film Ishq Vishk (2003) which won him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut . Then there was no looking back for the actor who has since then worked in some great films like Fida, Vivah, Jab We Met, Kaminey and was last seen in Phata Poster Nikla Hero. His hard work, perseverance and sincerity has helped him write his own destiny. Shahid has not delivered a hit in a long time, so here’s hoping his forthcoming film R…Rajkumar  might change his box office status in the near future.

Interacting with Adgully, Shahid shared insights about his film, his experience during his shoot with Sonakshi Sinha and more.
Speaking about his forthcoming film R.Rajkumar, Shahid shares, "I still haven't watched my film and will be starting the promotional activities soon as the release date is drawing close."

He has worked in various films, and performed different roles. So when asked what he has learnt so far in his career as an actor he says, " I can say that I am still learning how to  multitask, as it is really important.  I just can't focus on one thing at a time as there are loads of other important things to handle at the same time."

R. Rajkumar is directed by Prabhu Deva and also stars Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role. Shahid portrays a very rugged look in the movie.  Briefing us about his character in the film he says, "I am playing this character for the first time in my life.  I am playing a character of a Mawali and edgy guy who believes in only two things, one is work and the other is love. But he looks at both the needs differently."

The songs of the film ‘Saree ke fall sa’ and ‘Gandi baat’ have already picked up well and so has Shahid’s dancing style. He has attempted different styles of dancing in his past films but his role as a dancer in this film has been challenging for the actor. Shahid has done justice to and lived up to the expectations of Prabhu Dheva who is known for his brilliant choreography.

"My favourite song from the film is saree ke fall sa, as it was the first song which was shot for the film. Sonakshi and myself, we loved the song. Working with Sonakshi was great and I can say that I've worked with a complete heroine after a long time, she is an extremely capable actress," he shared.

Every profession has its different demands. When asked what is it that an actor looks for when it comes to choosing a film, he thoughtfully said," I usually live up to the character and justify  my role  as per the demands of the film and director . I feel satisfied when the director is pleased with my acting. In my opinion three things hold great importance for every actor viz. the director, story and character."
Recently there were rumours doing the rounds of Pankaj Kapoor on the hunt for a suitable girl for his son Shahid. Shahid denied these reports and said there in no truth in them. He went on to say,"No my father is not looking for any girl for me. He was busy and shooting for his film in Goa.  Even if he travels to Punjab it is only to meet our relatives and family there. I am going to marry a girl of my choice as I am the one who will live with her, but as of now I am happy with my single status."

With the release date set for 6th December 2013 what would be special about his new film R...Rajkumar that audiences will enjoy. He smiled and said, "It is Prabhu Dheva's movie and people are familiar with his work in his earlier film  like Rowdy Rathore. This film is based on romance and action but conceptualized in a different manner and this is what sets it apart from most movies in this genre."

Shahid has also started shooting for film Haider directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. What matters most for Shahid is that his fans have appreciated him for the person he is and not for the characters he portrays in his films.

Trailers are proof enough of the fun the crew had while filming the various hit dance/song numbers and also of Prabhu Deva's innovative choreography! The colourful and vibrant film R. Rajkumar , produced by Viki Rajani and Sunil Lulla and directed by Prabhu Deva will hit the big screens on December 6th 2013.
