Web 18 lost Sayantan Dasgupta, he will now play on ESPN's field!

Sayantan Dasgupta, after his three and half year's stint with Web18 has now joined ESPN Digital on October 1, 2010. At Web18, he was initially responsible for their NES (News Entertainment and Sports) Cluster comprising of IBNLive, Cricketnext and Buzz18 and he successfully brought up the revenue from scratch to Rs.9 crores in the last financial year after which he was given the charge of Web18's prized possession, its horizontal IN.com. Dasgupta says that he is really sad that he did not get to spend much time with an interesting product like IN.com and had to leave it in between as he just could not say no to the offer which was exactly of what he was dreaming of since last one year or so.

At ESPN Digital, Dasgupta will be handling international sales for products like ESPN F1 Soccernet and Scrum with a focus on the APAC region. He told exclusively to Adgully, "I have been longing to explore the APAC market and it just couldn't get better than entering it as a representative of the Number one Sporting brand and create markets for other sports like Football, F1 and Rugby in India and rest of Asia. He also talked about the possible rollout of an Asia targeted advertising model for ESPN.com, which already is a very strong digital entity in the US.

Dasgupta has around 15 years of experience under his belt. He began his career working with a Concept selling Company called Intercard India Ltd, as a Manager ' G.S.A. Network for a period of three and a half years; he then had a small stint with an Auto Magazine called Indian Auto, followed by the electronic media with the Hinduja's, Hathway Cable & Datacom and the Zee Access Group. However, his longest stint was with Cricinfo, which indecently was the first digital Company he worked for. | By Janees Antoo [janees(at)adgully.com]
