Twitter India takes education institutes digital via #CampusLife

As a first step in it’s digital campus program, Twitter India is partnering with top education institutes and universities in the country to bring #CampusLife alive on Twitter.

Through this digital campus program, Twitter India will help education institutes make the most of Twitter. This will include onboarding them on the platform, making their accounts more easily discoverable, aiding them in chronicling all the campus fun and important announcements in real-time and more.

It will also give students a platform to keep up with what’s happening on campuses by following campus related accounts on Twitter like @NIFTNewDelhi, connecting with other students and leaders through #AskTheMentor program on Twitter starting September 30th, and give them a chance to showcase their work and achievements on a public platform through their official college Twitter accounts like Whistling Woods is doing with it’s #DoWhatYouLove 140 second Twitter video series.

As part of its campus outreach, @NIFTNewDelhi, the country’s no. 1 fashion design institute in Delhi launched its account on Twitter with a special video on Wednesday evening. The digital team at @NIFTNewDelhi is keen on using Twitter to share updates, student achievements and more.

On Tuesday, one of the country’s leading film schools, @Whistling_Woods partnered with Twitter to launch a unique Twitter video series called, #DoWhatYouLove where students from the institute will have an opportunity to create video stories in 140 seconds that will be Tweeted every Tuesday. @Whistling_Woods has become the first film institute to create a concept like this on Twitter which gives students a weekly opportunity to have their work shared around the world on a interest-based public and conversational platform. Students at @Whistling_Woods now have the opportunity to interpret the #DoWhatYouLove theme based on their interests so expect to see an eclectic range of videos throughout the academic year.

Starting Friday 30th September, Twitter India will also be launching Mentorship Fridays with #AskTheMentor. Through this program which will happen on select Fridays every month, students across the country will have direct access to leaders in Indian society who will answer their questions via video through the special Twitter Q&A app.

The first mentor will be Red Chillies and Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore on 30th September to whom students can ask questions by Tweeting #AskTheMentor to @venkymysore.

Speaking about the initiative, Aneesh Madani (@aneeshmadani), Head of Sports and Education Partnerships, Twitter India said, “Twitter is the best way to keep up with what’s happening in the world, and through our digital campus program, we are excited to partner with education institutions to help them make the most of the platform.

This will include helping launch their public voice on Twitter for real-time updates and announcements, co-creating programs that help them showcase the best of their students, access to bespoke Twitter products and much more.

Already this week, we’ve seen the country’s best fashion design school @NIFTNewDelhi join Twitter with a special video and film institute @Whistling_Woods use Twitter to give their students an opportunity to showcase their talent to the world with the weekly #DoWhatYouLove Twitter video series.

With an #AskTheMentor program that gives students an opportunity to connect directly with successful alumni on Twitter and is set to launch next Friday, there’s lots to look forward to.”

On Wednesday afternoon, Twitter India also hosted a panel at The Young Makers Conclave in Delhi with panelists Aditi Avasthi (@aditiavasth) Founder and CEO, Embibe, Faith Gonsalves (@faithgonsalves), Founder, Music Basti, RJ Sayema Rahman (@Rjsayema), and Meghna Puri of Whistling Woods (@meghnaghaipuri) to talk about ‘The role of #CampusLife in moulding them as Young Makers’.
