Star World Premiere HD has BIG plans for 2017!

Star World Premiere HD, India’s leading English Entertainment channel is renowned for introducing Indian audiences to some of the best, critically acclaimed, award-winning and star-studded shows on television! After airing some of the biggest shows of 2016 – The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, The Night Of, Westworld, Game of Thrones Season 6, This Is Us among others, the channel is now all-set to air an even more exciting line-up with some of the biggest names in Hollywood and TV.

Kick-starting the line-up is the HBO heavy weight of the year ‘Big Little Lies’ that marks its debut  on the channel on February 21^st at 10 PM and stars Hollywood’s powerhouse of talent - Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley of The Fault in Our Stars fame in lead roles. The seven-episode series is a dark dramedy based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel and follows three mothers of kindergartners whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. Not only does the series mark Witherspoon’s first significant foray into television, but she also serves as an executive producer alongside Kidman.  Other renowned names involved in the series are Oscar winner Jean-Marc Vallée of the multi-award winning movie ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ who will be directing the entire series along with scripts by David E. Kelley of Golden Globe winning ‘Goliath’ fame.

Next in line is the upcoming FOX event series ‘Shots Fired’ that revolves around the murder of a white teenager who is killed by a black cop during a police shooting, leading an expert investigator and special prosecutor to examine the case that is grappled with media attention, public debate and social unrest. The directing lineup includes some staggering, big names, including Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme of The Silence of the Lambs and Rachel Getting Married fame; Kasi Lemmons of Oscar winning movie The Silence of the Lambs; Malcolm D. Lee and Anthony Hemingway of Oz, CSI:NY and True Blood fame. The series boasts an A-list star-cast with Oscar winners like Helen Hunt and Robert Dreyfus leading the list. Shots Fired will premiere on Star World Premiere HD in March, this year.

Adding the humor quotient to the line-up is the rib tickling HBO comedy, ‘Crashing’, written by and starring popular comedian Pete Holmes. The semi-autobiographical project centers around a sweet, wholesome comedian (Holmes) who, after his wife leaves him, has nowhere to stay but on the couches of New York’s finest comics. The series marks the first pilot directing gig for Judd Apatow, who is also behind the cult television series Freaks and Geeks and has directed and produced several successful comedy films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up & Funny People. Apatow’s work has won numerous awards - Primetime Emmy Award (for The Ben Stiller Show), Hollywood Comedy Award, and the American Film Institute Award for Bridesmaids. The series will mark its debut on the channel on 27^th February 2017.

Ending the excitement towards the much talked about penultimate Season 7, Star World Premiere HD will return with fewer but nerve-wrecking episodes of Game of Thrones.  Gear up to witness the return of your beloved characters, the downfall of houses and major plot revelations with the all-new season! Will the plot really see an uneasy alliance forged between Cersei, Danaerys and Jon to fight against the White Walkers? Known for his deadpan surreal humor, Zach Galifianakis marks his return to television with the Second Season of Baskets which follows the life of Chip ‘Baskets’, who desperately struggles to fulfil his dream and become a professionally trained French Clown, but faces many difficulties. An actor, writer as well as a producer, Zach also hosts the Emmy Award-winning talk show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis on the Funny or Die website. Season 2 will air on Star World Premiere HD every Saturday 10PM starting 20^th January 2017.

Following the comedy suit is the political satire ‘Veep’, which returns with season 6 on the channel later this year. Veep follows Selina Meyer’s (Julia Louis Dreyfus) life after her short stint as President of United States. Julia Louis-Dreyfus nailed the 5-time record breaking streak as Best Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmys this year and Veep swooped in a lot of awards to win its third consecutive award as Outstanding Comedy Series.

Season five of the Emmy and Critics’ Choice Award winning series ‘The Americans’ also makes its way to Indian television. The period drama series starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominees Keri Russell & Mathew Rhys as undercover KGB spies during the Cold War has been loved by audiences and critics alike. The penultimate season five of the solidly crafted story will premiere in India on Star World Premiere HD in March this year!

Another series that is all set to create ripples in the world television industry is one more anthology series by Ryan Murphy and executive produced by one of Hollywood’s biggest stars Brad Pitt - ‘Feud’. The first season titled ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ will follow the popular backstage battle between mega Hollywood stars – Bette Davis and Joan Crawford during the production of their 1962 film ‘What Ever Happened to Baby Jane’. Feud: Bette and Joan will star Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon in titular characters, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford respectively and Catherine Zeta Jones as actress Olivia de Havilland. The series commences in India later this year.
