SC adjourns TRAI tariff order hearing till September 11
On September 5th the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on the matter of tariff and interconnection regulation to 11th September. This is the second the hearing has been adjourned, the first one being on 27th August.
On July 3, 2018, TRAI had implemented the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Interconnection (Addressable Systems) Regulations 2017 after it was upheld by the Madras High Court with an exception. While bringing the order into effect on July 3, the TRAI had prescribed timelines for the stakeholders. The deadline for compliance was August 31, 2018. During that time, the big broadcasters such as Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, Sony Pictures Networks India and TV18 have all published their reference interconnect order (RIO) and listed their revised tariffs for their bouquet of channels.
The prescribed timeline given to broadcasters was August 31st and Star one of the petitioners against the mandate of TRAI has not published their RIO. The other parties that have filed impleadment/intervention petitions are:

- Sopan Foundation - It is claiming to represent the interest of the consumers. It was not present before the Madras High Court
Intervention
- Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) - The broadcasters representative body was also an intervener before the Madras High Court
- Dish TV India Ltd. - Its predecessor in interest (Videocon D2h Ltd.) was an intervenor before the Madras High Court
- News Nation Network Pvt. - Broadcaster of FTA channels. In was not present before the Madras High Court
