Marketers eye big youth population in less populated cities

Targeting the youth piece of cake or Rubik's cube? As most speakers would agree grabbing the attention is merely the 1st move in this game, the main focus is getting them hooked on. The YMF helps brands achieve just that.

The key note speaker for YMF 2011 is Rameet Arora, Sr. Director ' Marketing, McDonald's. The session gave a brief about the youth and what influences them. According to Arora the three major changes are the growth in economy, the rising numbers of nuclear families and not forgetting technology.

Arora also mentioned a frenzy that's spreading like wild fire amongst the youth in India. One being the "small town wave" which captures the youth from small towns who have a fiercer determination to achieve their dreams. The other being, "girl power" which is the new breed of young independent women although still keeping tradition alive.

Speaker Chetan Wakalkar (Group Director, Indra Group of Institutes) emphasised on the rapidly maturing youth. Multitasking and environmentally concerned are the top qualities of the youth today and how to use this to the full advantage.

The another important tactic to remember is that "attitude" matters as well as keeping up to date with the constantly changing trends across the globe. | By Vanessa Azavedo [vanessa(at)adgully.com]
