Lonely Planet launches Short Escape travel guides

Lonely Planet brings to you the pleasure of short escapes to destinations close to your city with the launch of its new series of travel guides -‘Short Escapes.’ The guides detail short trips from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The Short Escapes series is aimed at city-dwellers in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai, who are looking for a quick break from the city. The travel guides were unveiled by General Manager of Lonely Planet Mr. Sesh Seshadri at the Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon.

The books have been designed with travellers’ needs in mind; each guide features a minimum of 40-45 destinations conveniently divided by themes such as hills, heritage, wildlife and resorts. The travel guides outline the best possible routes from the city to the destination, along with distances and fares. In addition, they feature value-for-money suggestions for travellers looking to stretch

their resources. Handy detour boxes also provide additional options for travellers who want to extend their stay or veer off the beaten track. Economically priced at Rs.395, Short Escapes for the Indian Traveller will be available in bookstores on the Indian subcontinent. The books are produced in full-colour and packed with photographs to inspire the reader. Lonely Planet’s domestic travel guides for short trip destinations have been tailored keeping in mind the paucity of time that Indian working professionals face in their daily work life.

Lonely Planet, the world’s number one travel content provider, launched its first outbound travel guide series for Indian Travellers, Lonely Planet for the Indian Traveller in September 2012 and continues to invest in the Indian market with the launch of the ‘Short Escapes’ travel guides series.

Heading the Lonely Planet operations in India, Mr. Sesh Seshadri, General Manager of Lonely Planet India said, “In the present corporate scenario, working professionals in India want to maximize their leisure time. With this in mind Lonely Planet designed its Short Escapes travel guides to enable travellers to make the most of their time by exploring destinations close to their city.” The guides offer inspirational introductions to a range of destinations and also practical advice on itineraries and concerns about safety and budgets, along with providing reliable recommendations for hotels and transport. Written by Lonely Planet’s expert authors, who have visited and thoroughly researched each and every destination in our travel guides, Short Escapes enables travellers to get to the heart of the destination.
