EX | Looking at experimenting with different genres, Raakesh Paswan !

With plethora of shows in the television industry, every production house is keenly working on offering differentiated content to its audience. One such name is Village Boy Productions that was established in 2010 by veteran television writer Raakesh Paswan.

He envisioned at par quality content for Television Software, which would not only entertain the audience but would also educate and uplift urban-rural society both morally & socially while highlighting their social issues at large interest of the country and contributing insight in the process of social development.

Very recently Raakesh Paswan once again came up with a new show, 'Service Wali Bahu' that explores Payal, the protagonist’s inspiring journey of Ummeed, from being a self-driven, super-achieving daughter who has always made her parents proud to falling into a trap of a new-age dowry system where her in-laws look to her as a steady source of family income.

During the launch of the same, we at Adgully caught up with the man behind such successful shows, Raakesh Paswan, Founder, Village Boy Productions who spoke about the recent venture, upcoming plans and much more.

When asked about the journey since inception, he said, “The journey has been really encouraging and we have been growing positively since our first show. I always pick up shows based on social issues as I believe television is the best medium to spread any kind of message. But the art here is to make an intense social issue an entertaining one.”

He has imagined, Created and Written very popular TV serials, like; Ek Ghar Banaunga, currently on-air on Star Plus; Afsar Bitiya, aired on Zee TV; Baba Aiso Var Dhoondho, aired on Imazine TV; Hamari Devrani, aired on Star Plus; Bhagya Vidhaata, aired on Colors.

According to the industry grapevine, Paswan is a very patient man and he takes his time to create a property. On asking about him about the same, he said, “As my topics and shows are a bit intense and are known to create social impact so it requires patience and time to execute the same. Since I am a writer too, so I believe in giving time to every show that I create.”  

While working on these shows, he has earned high repute in Television & media industry with his hard-work and creativity. Sharing some key highpoints of his journey, he said, “The day that is really close to me was when our first show climbed the ladder of success and from there on the launch of every show from our production house has given me immense pleasure and encouragement.”

He has also written popular TV serials, like; Santan, aired on Star Plus; Thodi Khushi Thode Gamm , aired on Sony TV; Kulvaddhu, aired on Sony TV; Chhuna Hai Asman aired on Star Plus; Ek Ladki Anjaani Si , aired on Sony TV; Dulhan, aired on Zee TV; Mamta , aired on Zee TV.

It seems that Paswan has always been inclined towards socially relevant issues and Soaps so when asked if he is thinking towards entering any new genre, he said, “I would want to work on all the genres possible in the coming future and we have already started working on the same.” Having said that he meant very soon Village Boy Productions would entice the viewers with some surprise…! Also not only this, but Paswan has also started working towards conceptualizing and writing a movie of which he was a bit reluctant in sharing the details.

“2015 will see a lot new shows coming from us and we expect it to be another encouraging year for us,” he added while signing off.

The decade and half ago journey seems to be quite exciting and encouraging for Paswan and with such shows in the kitty, the production house too has a long way to go.
