British Airways builds US icons out of thousands of push -pins

British Airways has launched a print campaign using push - pin art to create life - size images of iconic destinations in the US. Created by BBH Asia Pacific, the campaign captures the scale of US destinations accessible to passengers flying British Airways from India - en route to the US via London.
 
Award - winning artist Wesley West used over six thousand regular push - pins to create the images, painstakingly choreographing each pin to allow for an arresting 3D effect.
 
Renowned still life photographer and long time BBH friend Leon Steele then brought the three six - foot tall images to life – creating movement and depth - to the iconic Statue of Liberty, the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge and a Rodeo moment.
 
Andy Grant, Associate Creative Director, says, "We wanted to bring to life American destinations in a way you'd never seen before. We used push -pins that are symbolic of destinations on maps to build famous and iconic US visuals - brought to life in an original artistic way. The three pieces became art in their own right with everyone wanting to hang them on their walls."

We were looking for a really innovative way to showcase our route strength in a simple yet compelling manner and demonstrate that we truly had ' North America covered' whether flying to the east, west coast or anywhere in between.
