Akshay Kumar, the new villain in Bollywood
One of the finest actors in Bollywood who has specialized in martial arts and popular for his extraordinary stunts Akshay Kumar is well known in Bollywood for his numerous hits be it in the genre of action , romance or comedy. He has appeared in over 125 films during his 22 year career and it is for the first time that audiences will see him in the role of a villain on the big screens.
Recently, Akshay Kumar unveiled the promo of his upcoming film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again. On this occasion he briefed us about the character he is playing in the film how the opportunity for the negative role came his way , his preference for it and more.
Enthusiastic about the character he is playing in the film, he said, “I am playing the role of a villain named Shoaib which was played by Emraan Hashmi in the first part of the film.”
When asked if the character of Shoaib depicts underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Akshay denied the rumours doing the rounds and said , “ I don’t think so as the character which I am playing is a fictional character of an underworld don and not related to anyone in real life.”
It was earlier believed that Emraan Hashmi would be selected to play the character of Shoaib but ultimately Akshay Kumar was the final choice by director Milan Luthria to play the said role.
On getting to play such a character for the first time in his film career he said, “ As an actor we do play various roles but yes it has been a rare chance for me to play this character and I would not have foregone this opportunity under any circumstances . I am happy with my new role.”
Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again is a sequel of the 2010 hit film Once Upon A Time in Mumbai. The upcoming film based on the plot of crime and gangsters has been directed by Milan Luthria and features Imran Khan, Sonali Bendre and Sonakshi Sinha, the other protagonists in the film along with Akshay Kumar.
Explaining how different it would be for the viewers to see him portray the character that has already been played by Emraan, Akshay said, “I personally feel that actors should never be compared with each other. We opt for a film because we like the script. We are actors and not competing in some rat race,” concluded Akshay.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again, is expected to hit theatres on the occasion of Eid i.e. 8th August 2013.
