Travelling is the best way to explore beautiful things in the world: SCA India's Cecilia Edebo

Cecilia Edebo is presently Vice President Consumer Goods for SCA Hygiene Products India Pvt Ltd. She has been responsible for the business entry strategy for SCA in India and is together with the newly recruited team in the process of launching SCA’s portfolio of brands in the Indian market, based on a unique proposition based on local market insights. Edebo has also been “sponsoring” the manufacturing site set-up for SCA in India, travelled the Indian country side  and learnt a lot about the government and  ministry relations and processes. She has been with SCA for more than 15 years, working in various sales, marketing & business development roles at management level in various parts of Europe as well as Asia.

SCA, a leading global hygiene and forest products company plans to set up a manufacturing facility for hygiene products with an investment of about SEK 150 million (around Rs 145 crore) in India. The facility is expected to commence production in 2015. The brands that SCA intends to launch on the Indian market in the coming months include TENA - the world leader in incontinence care, Libero baby care, Tempo – for hand and face hygiene and Tork – the global leader in the away-from-home tissue segment.

In the latest edition of Fox Traveller Diaries, globe trotter Cecilia Edebo who considers India truly incredible, shares about her adventurous holidays and how it helps to refresh her mood when dealing with hectic schedules.

Fox Traveller Diaries (FTD): If there is one place you can keep going back to for a holiday, where would it be?

Cecilia Edebo (CE): I love India, it has loads of beautiful spots to visit like Lakshadweep and Madh Island.

FTD: Tell us three good things about travelling.

CE: It's a beautiful way to explore the world, know more about new things around you and it refreshes your mood when you are back home from your journey.

FTD:  When you travel, what is a must carry for you?

CE:  My kid!

FTD:  When and where did your best holiday happen?

CE:  I think Lakshadweep.

FTD:  As a traveller, what’s your tip for the others?

CE: Just enjoy the moment, don't plan too much.

FTD:  A colleague/co-worker from your industry with whom you would like to go on a holiday.

CE: I think all of them, it would be great fun.

FTD:  Have you ever been surprised by the taste of food, outside India? Where?

CE: Nothing.

FTD:  What and where has been your best bazaar bargain so far?

CE: Kuala Lumpur, I bought a watch from there.

FTD: Which has been the most unique destination that you ever visited?

CE:  Pulau Tenggol Island in Malaysia.

FTD:  Tell us how you have managed to make a journey fun.

CE:  Be at ease and just enjoy the moment.

FTD:  A gourmet gaffe that you would like to share.

CE:  I had monkey's brain in China when I ordered for curry.

FTD: What has been your worst travel moment? Why?

CE: Yes, it has happened to me frequently, when I have got stuck or waited for hours at the airport.

FTD:  What is the best souvenir you ever bought for anyone? 

CE: Gifts are just memories. It's never small or big. I picked up shells from Malaysia, made a necklace out of it and gifted it to my mom which she carries with her.
