TOI to enter Coimbatore on 14th of February

The Times of India (TOI) will be launching its Coimbatore edition on February 14. This will be the group's second edition in Tamil Nadu (after Chennai). There is news that Bennett Coleman & Co (BCCL) will head towards the Calicut and Trievndrum belt next.

The Coimbatore launch date was confirmed to Adgully by Rahul Kansal, Chief Marketing Officer, BCCL. It is reportedly believed that TOI has launched a yearly subscription scheme priced at Rs.299, while the monthly subscription is priced at Rs.70. It has been reported that TOI will launch in Coimbatore will be with an estimated print run of 70,000 copies. TOI will be printing and distributing the newspaper on their own.

Talking about TOI's new launch, Kansal, tells Adgully, "The city of Coimbatore is fast developing. It has a growing education sector and at the same time has well flourished spiritual centres too. The city is seeing growth in industrial trade and when I say industry I mean both traditional and modern industries. We have no ambition to become the No1 daily in Coimbatore but we certainly see a lot of potential in the market."

Deccan Chronicle a daily with a total readership of 2,707,000 readers (IRS Q3 data) launched on December 28, 2010 in the Coimbatore market.
