Sandip Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa at 66th Cannes Film Festival!

Hundred years of Indian cinema celebration is in the air. The Cannes Film Festival is honouring India as it celebrates the centenary of Indian cinema. On May 3, 1913, “Raja Harishchandra” the country’s first feature length film was shown in Bombay and the movie’s director, Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, is considered the father of Indian cinema. The glitzy 66th Cannes Film festival of 2013 witnessed the maximum attendance by the Indian film fraternity form Bollywood. Big B Amitabh Bachchan,  Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,  Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor were present at the festival and were seen representing India. Internationally renowned choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and his wife Jesse Randhawa were seen attending Cannes Festival and they represented the Indian Dance Community at Cannes. They were introduced as the exotic Indian Dancing Couple.

Sandip Soparrkar said, “It was an honour to be invited at Cannes to represent Indian dance community and celebrate its 100 years at huge platform of Cannes Festival.  Thank you for celebrating birthday of my cinema.”

Sandip is a German Trained Ballroom Dance Trainer, who is the first Indian to be certified by the ‘Ballroom Dance Teachers Training School’ in Bonn Germany. He has been personally appreciated by The Queen of England & the Prince of Wales, promoting Ballroom & Latin American dance culture in India. He was a Technical Director of Sony TV’s award winning dance show ‘Jhalak Dikh La Ja: Dancing with the Stars’.
