Rakhi Ka Insaaf shifts to 11pm, Bigg Boss stays at 9pm

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has ordered to shift two prime time shows- Bigg Boss 4 on Colors and Rakhi Ka Insaaf on Imagine to the 11 pm -5 am time slot. Following this order, Imagine has decided to move and broadcast the show Rakhi Ka Insaaf at 11 pm.

On the other hand, Viacom 18, which owns the General Entertainment Channel Colors, moved the Bombay High Court against the I & B Ministry's orders. On the grounds that the channel was not issued with the dates of episodes which were monitored and were found to be indulging in adult content. The court stayed the order, while channel went ahead and telecast Bigg Boss 4 at 9 pm. However the I & B Ministry issued notices inquiring why the channel disobeyed the government directives. But the channel went ahead with the 9 pm slot and is awaiting the next court hearing which is scheduled to be on Monday.

While for Rakhi Ka Insaaf, it was launched in October, Imagine partnered with UTV and I AM Productions to design the unique concept of the show. The concept of the show was announced so as to "provide justice and for solving social issues emotionally and not legally". Combined with the power-packed screen presence of Rakhi Sawant, the show just into its second week with its second episode gathered a rating of 2.3 TVR. The ratings were very ahead of episode 2 of Master Chef which rated only at 1.7 TVR. A 24 episode initiative the show fast caught up on viewership and made news while at a time when famous Bollywood actors were competing as hosts across various channels.

Confirming the news to Adgully that Rakhi Ka Insaaf has been shifted to the 11pm slot, the channel issued a statement saying, "We have received an advisory from the I&B Ministry that requires us to shift the telecast timing of the program, Rakhi Ka Insaaf. We are complying with the Ministry's advice on this matter, and changing the telecast time of the program to 11 pm. We have already stopped all day time repeats of the program and have advised all news channels to refrain from carrying excerpts or clips of the show during daytime hours of 5 am to 11 pm, as directed by the Ministry. We would also like to clarify that we have not challenged this Order in any court." | By Prabha Hegde {prabha(at)adgully.com
