M&C Saatchi Mobile debuts in India with clients Ola and Swiggy

Global full service mobile media agency, M&C Saatchi Mobile, has debuted in India, setting up two offices in New Delhi and Bangalore. The company begins operations with two flagship clients – Ola and Swiggy.

The agency has hired Harry Bajaj as Business Strategist to head its New Delhi operations and Gaurav Ahuja as Business Manager to head the office in Bangalore. Bajaj brings a wealth of client and agency-side mobile marketing experience, while Ahuja is a mobile adtech specialist. Both Bajaj and Ahuja will report into Chris Steedman, APAC, Managing Director, M&C Saatchi Mobile.

India has a mere 125 million smartphone users currently, the world’s third-largest base after China and the US. However, the growth opportunity is huge. The country is slated to overtake the US in 2016 and become the world’s second-largest market for smartphones, exceeding 200 million smartphone users, says research firm eMarketer. China, in contrast, already has over 500 million smartphone users.

The move to India has given the mobile media company a footprint into a market with enormous potential for growth.

James Hilton, CEO, M&C Saatchi Mobile, commented, “Inauguration of our offices in the country’s capital New Delhi and the IT hub of the country, Bangalore, is a landmark moment in our history. We know there is huge opportunity in this market and being able to provide our existing client with support in their local market has always been our client servicing goal.”

Commenting on the new hires at the newly established company in New Delhi and Bangalore, Steedman said, “As a forward thinking, mobile first media agency, we believe in hiring the brightest minds in the industry. Since India presents us with unique opportunities, it was but natural for us to hire experts who understand the pulse of the country.”

Founded 10 years ago, M&C Saatchi Mobile is widely recognised as a global leader in the space, with its network spanning offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sydney and Singapore, in addition to the two in India. Its rapidly growing roster of clients is led by the global mobile accounts for Microsoft and Skype.
