Lokmat SurJyotsna Award is a platform for aspiring singers in India

Dedicated to celebrating musical excellence, Lokmat, Maharashtra and Goa’s No. 1 newspaper, has announced 4th edition of its prestigious musical award called Lokmat SurJyotsna Award. Through this award, Lokmat gives a platform to aspiring singers across India. This year is 4th edition of the awards. Lokmat SurJyotsna Award has always had a prominent Jury who are noted names in the Indian music industry namely Pt. Jasraj, Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, D. L Subramanium, Shankar Mahadevan, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Prasoon Joshi, Shubha Mudgal, Roop Kumar & Sunali Rathod among others. This year a popular/film category has been added and singers can upload their video and audio files on a website – www.surjyotsna.org The winners will be rewarded with the cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh in each category along with an award trophy.

Last few years saw winners as Female - Vocal: Ankita Joshi (Pune), Male - Instrument: S. Akash (Bengaluru), Female - Vocal: Pooja Gaitonde (Mumbai), Male - Instrument: Ojas Adhiya (Baroda), Female - Vocal: Reewa Rathod (Mumbai) Male - Instrument: Arshad Ali Khan (Kolkata)

Lokmat SurJyotsna awards provide a cohesive platform to celebrate and recognize the contribution of those who push the boundaries in Indian Music. Over the last 3 years the Surjyotsna Music Awards have established itself as one of the prestigious music awards in the country. The awards are instituted by Lokmat Media Group in memory of Late Smt. Jyotsna Darda. SJMA’s mission is to identify and recognize music talent across India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Devendra Darda, Managing Director, Lokmat Media Pvt. Ltd said, “Surjyotsna Music Awards is conceived with the vision of identifying unique musical talents from across the country. A dream dreamt by us 3 years back has today emerged as one of the platforms for upcoming singers and that has given us confidence to scale up the competition level. This year apart from Classical we have opened a popular category and an online method of inviting entries. As we bring in the 4th edition of Surjyotsna Awards, we look forward to celebrating another exciting year in Indian music and recognizing new talent.”

The participation details:

  1. The competition is open to age group 15-30 yrs.
  2. Entries will be accepted zone wise on www.surjyotsna.org.
  3. The shortlisted finalists will perform in front of live audience at the SurJyotsna Award function to be held on March 25th at Nagpur.
