Coca Cola Squash Open Championship 2012 kicks off in New Delhi

The Coca Cola Squash Open Championship 2012 kicked off on Tuesday in the presence of the finest squash players of the country at Kendriya Vidyalaya Squash Courts, R K Puram. The 105th tournament organised by Indian Squash Professionals (ISP) will witness the players from all over the country to compete with each other for the whopping prize money of Rs 3.25 Lacs.
 
The opening day of the prestigious tournament was watched by squash players, enthusiasts and school children, who cheered for their favorite players. More than 350 players have enrolled at this tournament.
On Day 1 Boys U-19, Mukul Yadav of Dhampur Squash Academy (U.P.) upset 1st seed Akhil Yadav of Jindal Sports Academy, Mumbai 3-1 in the toughest match of the day.
 
In Men’s U-23 category, which is introduced first time in the Coca Cola Squash Open Championship, 2nd seed Rishi Jalan of Cornell University (U.S.) thrashed Shashwat Anand. Rishi, who was chosen among the top 25 athletes of Cornell University, won the match with an ease.
 
In another match of Boys U-19, Siddharth Choudhry disappointed Kendriya Vidyalaya’s No.1 player Shaurya Sharma 3-0.
