BARC Wk 16: FTA channels gain the upper hand; big gains for Rishtey

BARC ratings for Week 16 of 2018 (April 14-20) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw the top 5 positions occupied by FTA channels. However, it was Rishtey that stole the show, registering a jump of four places from No. 7 to No. 3 this week. On the other hand, Zee TV moved out of the top 5 list despite having three of its shows among the top 5 most watched shows. 

Zee Anmol, which had climbed up a notch to the numero uno spot last week, further consolidated its position in Week 16, garnering a gross viewership of 714,895, an increase from 676,300 recorded last week. Re-run of the hit show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, continued to top the list of most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 11,721 (000) Impressions. 

Star Bharat, too, remained unchanged at No. 2 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 629,922, a further decline from 669,207 recorded in Week 15. 

On the other hand, Rishtey saw a massive gain in Week 16, jumping four notches to the third spot. The channel saw a steep hike in its gross viewership as well – from 461,718 recorded in Week 15 to 626,201 this week. 

Sony Pal slid a notch to No. 4 this week, recording a gross viewership of 600,021, a further decline from 649,574 recorded in Week 15. 

Star Utsav, too, slid a notch to the fifth spot in Week 16, recording a gross viewership of 523,373, a further decline from 568,047 recorded last week. 

Three of Zee TV’s shows featured among the top 5 most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban in Week 16. However, the channel slid a notch to the sixth spot this week, with a gross viewership of 506,179, a slight decline from 516,099 recorded in Week 15. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ was the second most watched show with 10,331 (000) Impressions, while ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ made a re-entry at the third spot with 8,594 (000) Impressions. ‘Ishq Subhan Allah’, which had entered the top 5 list at No. 3 last week, slid to the fourth spot in Week 16 with 8,276 (000) Impressions. 

Colors, on the other hand, climbed up a notch to the seventh spot in Week 16, after slipping to its lowest rank ever since BARC came into being at No. 8 last week. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 494,038, an increase from 451,207 recorded in Week 15. 

Star Plus slid a couple of notches to No. 8 this week, a position it was in a couple of weeks back in Week 14. The channel garnered a gross viewership of 457,220, a further decline from 465,655 recorded in Week 15. Its show, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, entered the list of most watched shows at No. 5 with 7,411 (000) Impressions. 

Sony Entertainment Television and Sony SAB continued in their respective positions of No. 9 and No. 10 in Week 16. Sony Entertainment Television garnered a gross viewership of 354,487, compared to 341,584 recorded last week. Meanwhile, Sony SAB recorded a gross viewership of 344,705, a slight increase from 341,285 recorded last week.
