Intriguing questions all, and veteran actor and a master teacher, Anupam Kher has set out to get them answered by the very people we see and idolize and sometimes put up on a pedestal through The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai, Starting 6th July at 8 PM. Anupam Kher is all set to take viewers on an exciting journey where the stars will step down from their ivory towers of glamour and high life to bare it all an open, honest and fun filled conversation.

The Anupam Kher Show - Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai – Season I, a show hosted and produced by Anupam Kher, provides viewers an unprecedented glimpse into the lives of their favourite celebrities, as they reveal stories of faith, hope, struggle, victory and success. While the series kicks off with the superstar of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan who shares bittersweet and sometimes rib-ticklingly funny anecdotes from his life, subsequent episodes which will air every Sunday will feature artists and prominent personalities like Mahesh Bhatt and Alia Bhatt, David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut, Kapil Sharma, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri, Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, and cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Talking about success is the easiest thing to do. But the road to success is often paved with a lot of obstacles, sacrifices, tears and testing times. And talking about those times often requires strength of character. Helping the viewer’s take notice of this inner strength of people admired for their outer beauty and talent will be actor extraordinaire Anupam Kher. These are people who have marched through life taking the good with the bad, the happy with the sad. But they soldier on, with a smile on their lips and the ability to look back and laugh at their own naïve mistakes. It’s a show that will help viewers understand their idols not from the perspective of fans but that of a friend. Commenting on the show’s concept, Anupam Kher, Producer of Actor Prepares Production said, “The idea of a show like this came from my autobiographical play 'Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’ which is about my set-backs and failures. Having experienced the bitter and sweet sides of life first-hand, I was looking for an outlet to share stories of self-motivation with audiences to tell them that they are not alone. People, who have read or seen my play, have come and told me that they are inspired by the play. So, I thought to develop a concept which can inspire life of others. During the course of the series, viewers will get an insight into life with the ultimate learning that nothing is impossible if you just believe. The show is a journey which will take you through the failures and success of all the known faces of the industry (actors), and I hope that this inturn would inspire our viewers. I would like to thank my friends and colleagues for supporting my venture and lending their names to my first television production and giving me an opportunity to showcase them as the people I have grown to know, appreciate and love.”

Speaking about the show, Raj Nayak, CEO – COLORS, said, “The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai will bring to light the extraordinary experiences which have shaped some of India’s most revered personalities. While Mission Sapne had celebrities living the life of a common man, with The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai, we will see a new set of celebrities talking about their journey from ‘aam’ to ‘khaas’. Their battles will inspire many and make viewers look at them in a different light.”

Stating that currently, there is no talk show in the Hindi general entertainment space, he said that however that was not the need that stimulated him to take it up. “In fact, plenty of ideas and offers have come to us for a talk show, but we abstained from doing it as we felt doing run-of-the-mill shows will not do good to us on the content differentiation and ratings charts! But we picked up this show as it goes well with our idea of unexpectedness. There is no structured format, segment patter or for that matter event hard bound script that Anupam Kher has to follow. It is completely conversational and going with the flow.”

Sharing the story of how it all started, Nayak said, “It was about 10 years back that I met Anupam at one of the shows of his play titled ‘Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’ and since then we have been juggling with the idea of doing a show around this idea, but nothing concrete was reached. But when I asked him for a format or show flow, he declined the idea and said that there will just be spontaneity and a free-flow chat with his friends from across the industry without boundaries and to be very honest I was unsure doing something of this sort. But Anupam’s brief to me was very clear that if I expect another gossip show talking about frivolous things than he is not the right person. I feel the real beauty of the show is that it will reveal things about these celebrities which no other show has done till date. I believe Anupam has managed to get the best out of all the celebrities he brought on show, right from Shah Rukh Khan to Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. The show will bring all emotions to the table, thus staying true to COLORS’ promise of ‘Expecting the unexpected’!

While COLORS is known to go all out in marketing and promoting all of their non-fiction properties, the channel custodian states that taking the risk run as a common thought in the fiction department as well. Speaking on how they chose a show and the procedure that follows, Nayak said, “Since there is no particular formula that brings success to a channel, we genuinely do not know success-failure ratio. Our constant endeavour is to keep offering something new to our viewers, almost every quarter. We are known to be cutting edge, offer new and different things which our viewers expect from us. We believe in our gut feeling and go with what will resonate this thought and understandably, like every business sometimes it may work, sometime it may not. But I believe as long as the intent and the content is good, while some shows may get good ratings, whereas others may make the bucks for us. If this balancing act manages the PnL for the channel (which is the key for COLORS) and stands true to our mantra of profitability, then I believe we are doing the right things”.

Vivek Srivastava, Head – Commercial and Digital, Colors said, “As a concept, this show is going to be a differentiator and Colors as a channel is known for differentiation”. Speaking on the marketing bit, he said, “Apart from regular activities in print, television and outdoor campaigns, this time we are also releasing an application on Facebook that talks about which real self are you? Are you hiding behind a mask? Five or seven different aspects will be looked at in this. The ‘revealing’ aspect of the show is kept in mind while marketing it across digital and social media platforms.”

The idea behind the show is not to provide just a peek into the faces behind the lights, camera and action, but to give the viewers’ inspiration to learn from those they idolize. These are stories of love, passion, perseverance and kindness which everyone can now access through the show and also through a robust digital campaign.
