Adgully Exclusive | The Road makes the Roadies: MTV VJ Bani

The Indian Television is full of beautiful ladies and witty ones too, but there seems to be an exceptional category emerging. The new category of ladies on the small screen today are ' the ones with a bit of raw attitude, have made it big and at the same time have been able to have their own fan following.

One such lady with oomph and attitude is VJ Bani, she has been able to demarcate her USP in the entertainment industry and has also been able to attract fans.

From being the most hated contestant on MTV Roadies 4, to adorning a scruffy yet attractive look, and to being labeled as the youth icon, Gurbani Judge aka VJ Bani has come a long way.

The attitude that got her co-contestants disliking her on the show has got her a huge number of fans all across the country today. From her red or green coloured hair to the many number of tattoos she has, VJ Bani has created her own fashion statement and has been labeled as a trend-setter by many.

For Bani, Roadies happened four years ago and nothing much has changed in terms of a person that she was and is. But she confesses that the journey of the show was very difficult, because she didn't feel like talking to the other contestants. Moreover, she felt as if they mistook her attitude for arrogance.

Bani feels that the only possible thing that probably has changed for her is that people recognize her now, but that is not much of a change for her she says. She further adds that Chandigarh, her hometown, is a small place in itself and hence people end up knowing each other, so even if people now recognize her as VJ Bani, she doesn't feel any difference at all.

Frank and upfront as she seems, she has an aspiration to be an artist, she has an urge to lock herself in a room and just sit and paint. Besides she plans to take her ambition to be an artist a step further in the near future.

But don't jump to the conclusion that she is a "closet loner", because when asked about her Bollywod debut, she excitedly responds on her acting experience. "I did a movie with Himesh Reshammiya, I was called Bani in the movie too and I have done an item number with Mallika Sherawat," she says lightheartedly.

However she is quick enough to add that Bollywood only has space for a limited number of stars and that the industry is really not that open to accept new comers or debutants.

When asked about how does it feel to be called as a youth icon she contends that she feels very responsible towards the youth. She knows that the youth of the country are looking at her tattoo, looking at her coloured hair, but she doesn't want to give out a wrong message to the youth.

She further adds that, "Though my image might be misleading, but I don't smoke, I don't drink or I don't do drugs. I go to the gym everyday, I sleep early in the night, I go out for movies with my mom, all this might come across as very boring compared to my looks. I feel responsible towards the youth and I want them to know what I really am."

This is not all, there is more to this VJ cum aspiring artist cum actor and that is her love for baking, her liking to collect fancy shoe laces and socks and she also believes in donating blood.

Passionate about a lot of things, when zeroed down to the show that really made her identifiable amongst the crowd, Bani feels that "The Road makes the Roadie". According to her someone who likes traveling will always enjoy the show and its challenges.

While it looks like she is carrying a box full of talent and aspirations, VJ Bani comes across as a simple and unpretentious girl-next-door. However, only that this girl-next-door changes her hair colour with every passing season and has tattoos that can't be overlooked. | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
