Umeed India to showcase the journey of Athletes

EPIC Channel – India Ka Apna Infotainment, has constantly pushed boundaries of infotainment by bringing alive stories from India through premium, high quality content. To celebrate International Olympic Day on June 23, EPIC will screen back-to-back episodes of one of its finest shows – ‘Umeed India’. The 14-part series is hosted by Virender Sehwag and chronicles the journey of some of India’s best athletes as they train with one aim in mind – to bring home the Gold at Tokyo 2020.

Umeed India gives audiences an up close and personal look at training sessions, diets, exercises, aspirations, and the overall personal and professional struggle of Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Shot Put player Om Prakash Singh Karhana, Judoka Avtar Singh, Freestyle Wrestler and Olympic medallist Sakshi Mallik, Sprinter Dutee Chand, Rower Dattu Bhokanal, six time Olympian and the first Indian to compete in Luge at the Winter Olympic Games Shiva Keshavan, Paralympian Swimmer Suyash Jadhav, Para-badminton champion Sanjeev Kumar, Shooter Ayonika Paul, Javelin thrower Annu Rani, Badminton Player Sai Praneeth, Boxer Shiva Thapa, and Freestyle Wrestle Bajrang Punia. 

Speaking about this special programme line-up, Akul Tripathi, Head - Content and Programming, EPIC Channel said, “There are few things that unite a country like sports. With Olympics looming in sight next year, we take this opportunity to celebrate the athletes who are training to make India proud at the world’s biggest sporting event.”
