TV channels woo kids with content & contests this Children’s Day

Catering to the entertainment requirements of today’s children is no child’s play. Along with short attention spans, there are a plethora of options available to them today – be it content on television or digital media, gaming, social media and myriad activities. 

Amid all these, television still manages to hold kids’ attention, especially with their animated content. On Children’s Day this year, as in the previous years, various TV channels, especially kids’ channels have lined up an array of shows to entice the little ones. 

Nickelodeon 

To ensure that the spirit of children’s day is celebrated among adults alongside children, Nickelodeon has rolled out its new campaign, ‘Bachon Jaisi Baatein’. As part of the on-ground promotional activity, the channel has created a ‘Happy Bus’ in which the Nicktoons will deliver a bag full of happiness to children. The channel has planned games, goodies and fun activities for kids and special goodie bags with nostalgic goodies that revoke childhood memories for adults. 

It has also got an activity on Children’s Day – ‘iWatch, iParticipate and iWin’ – on Nick and ‘I am on TV’ on Sonic. All kids have to do is tune in to Nickelodeon, Monday-Friday, 7-8.30 pm, answer some simple questions and stand a chance to win an iPhone X. Adding to the excitement, they are offering an exclusive opportunity to a child to watch his/ her animated avatar on TV by watching Sonic from Monday-Friday at 5 pm. 

Sony YAY! 

This November, Sony YAY! is bringing children 30 unique reasons to celebrate. The channel has launched its first ever Children’s Day campaign, ‘Children’s YAY!’, which will take kids on a complete joy ride and promises 30 days of unlimited happiness, and bringing them a distinctive treat – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to feature on Sony YAY! channel. All they have to do is imitate their much loved Guru and Bhole, who will showcase various fun poses every day and all children need to do is submit their entries replicating the fun poses demonstrated by the characters. The poses will range from fun, laughter, dance, surprise, etc., giving children an opportunity to express a variety of emotions. The channel will announce one winner each day, who will not just feature on television, but also win a bag full YAY. 

Apart from this, adding extra dozes of excitement with the launch of all new episodes of ‘Paap-O-Meter’, the channel will take the kids on a journey into the life of Bhoot Boss and how he becomes the protector and best friend for all the children. 

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network also has exciting line-up of on – air and on-ground activities for kids and fans.The channel will be celebrating Kris’s birthday, which is on 14th November, with Roll No. 21 specials and movies every Monday to Friday, 5th - 15th November at 11am. Apart from this, as a part of the Cartoon Network Bacha Party Celebrations at Phoenix Market City Kurla, Mumbai, they will be celebrating Kris’s birthday between 17th – 19th November.

Pogo

POGO is celebrating Children's Day with its line-up of Super Bheem movies every day from 13th to 17th November, at 12 noon.

Sony PIX 

Sony PIX came up with a special programming block, titled ‘Children’s Day PIXathon’, which aired children’s movies all through Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 9 am onwards. 

Comedy Central 

Comedy Central has associated with Aakansha Foundation and is inviting under-privileged children to spend a special day at Kidzania and learn what they have always wished to learn. Riding on popular sitcom, ‘Young Sheldon’, the channel brings a unique opportunity for adults and children to role-play their aspiring career missions. Adding wings to their dreams, Comedy Central will help some of the lucky winners to meet stalwarts from the relevant industries and will also award Young Sheldon intern badges and a Young Sheldon Certificate of Completion to the kids in action. The campaign will take place at Kidzania Delhi and Mumbai from November 14 to 21. 

Zee Studio 

Zee Studio is celebrating Children’s Day with the premiere of the animated sci-fi film, ‘Ratchet and Clank’. Based on a video game by the same name, the movie boasts of an amazing cast of voice talents like Sylvester Stallone, James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Bella Thorne and Rosario Dawson. The action-comedy hits the television screens on November 19, 2017 at 12 noon and 9 pm. 

Star Movies 

Star Movies has lined up some popular movies – ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’, ‘The Good Dinosaur’, ‘Home Alone 3’, ‘Zootopia’ and ‘Finding Dory’ – to bring out the child in everyone. The movie marathon will continue all day on Children’s Day from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. 

VH1

On this special occasion, Vh1 is bringing Under 21, music’s most young and powerful minors. With Vh1’s edition of Under 21, the viewers would plunge into reminiscing their childhood’s sweet memories along with brighten this special day by playing the mega hits of some of their favorite young musical sensations.

Living Foodz 

Not to be left behind, Living Foodz has lined up some delectable fare that mom’s can whip up in their kitchen for their little ones. The channel’s recently introduced shows – ‘The Dream Kitchen’ hosted by Chef Pankaj Bhadouria and ‘I Want To Bake Free’ hosted by Maria Goretti – will present unique and lip-smacking recipes in their Kids’ Special episodes. 

On the occasion of Children’s Day, Chef Pankaj Bhadouria will be seen sharing recipes for Soya Egg Roll Wrap and Spaghetti in a Mason Jar, among other recipes, whereas Maria Goretti will cook up Lentil Bread, Mini Veggie Pizza, etc. to entice the kids. 

Tata Sky 

DTH service provider Tata Sky is airing a mix of Indian and international content on Tata Sky Kids Cinema, including premieres, for all its subscribers at no additional cost. The movies have been curated specifically for kids and include ‘Gattu’, ‘Pappu Ki Pugdandi’, ‘Karamati Coat’, ‘The Goal’ and ‘A Cat in Paris’. The seven-day long Children’s Day celebration is being held from November 10 to 16. 

Sony Entertainment Television 

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television is presenting a special ‘Child Safety Week’ (Baal Suraksha Saptah), wherein it will air special episodes on ‘Crime Patrol – Satark’ drawing attention to real-life cases of crimes against children. The week-long special commenced on November 13 and will continue till November 19, airing at 11 pm Monday-Friday and at 10.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
