Q1 (April-June) Review: Aaj Tak dominates Hindi News; Tops HSM, Prime Time

In a review of the ratings from Weeks 14-26, the first quarter gone by this financial year, Aaj Tak emerged as a clear leader across segments. As per BARC ratings, Aaj Tak garnered average weekly gross viewership of 94,309 in HSM (TG: 15+, Mkt: HSM, TB: 24 Hrs, Period: Wk-14'18 to Wk26’18, Gross Imp '000s), ahead of Zee News (83,031), India TV (81,506), News18 India (72,094) and ABP News (67,467).

HSM Urban: Aaj Tak led in the HSM Urban, securing a gross viewership of 55,401 followed by Zee News (51,605), India TV (49,178), News18 India (44,764) and ABP News (38,095).

Rural HSM: Aaj Tak led in the HSM Rural, too, securing a gross viewership of 38,908 followed by India TV (32,328), Zee News (31,427), News Nation (31,297) and ABP News (29,372).

When one looks at the weekday and weekend split, we see a similar pattern – No. 1 on Weekdays followed by Zee News and India TV on 2nd and 3rd Spot, respectively.

Weekends: Aaj Tak followed by India TV and Zee News on 2nd & 3rd Spot, respectively.

Prime Time: Slot as well, garnering average Weekly gross viewership of 38,336 (BARC, TG: 15+, Mkt: HSM, TB: 1800-2400 Hrs, Period: Wk-14'18 to Wk26’18, Gross Imp '000s). The channel was followed by Zee News, which registered gross viewership of 36,195 in the same period.

In the latest Week 26, Aaj Tak has more than 20 per cent of a lead over No. 2 channel in Market Share.
