Movies, season marathons, masti - channels look to have fun this Holi

With the country in a celebratory mood for the festival of Holi, channels have lined up a slew of Holi specials to add to the joyous mood. Adgully takes a look at how Star World Premiere HD, FX, Sony Pix, SAB TV, Sri Adhikari Brothers and Discovery Kids plan to make Holi special this year.

Star World Premiere HD
Star World Premiere HD, India’s premium English entertainment channel, is all set to run an all-day marathon of Season 1 of the craziest, musical show – ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ that is invigorated with all the elements that Holi is known to possess – love, friendship, music, dance and most of all colours.

The show will air all day starting 12 pm and onwards on Star World Premiere HD on March 24 and 25.

The show revolves around Rebecca Bunch who is a single woman and still longs for her longtime soul mate Josh, who dumped her after their summer fling during summer camp in 2005. In 2015, after being inspired by a TV commercial for a butter spread, she restarts her pursuit of Josh after she spots him in New York City.

FX and FX HD
Laugh out loud this Holi as popular comedian Louis CK makes his way to FX in a special marathon of Season 5 of his show ‘Louie’. The series is loosely based on Louis CK’s life himself, showing him as a comic onstage, and depicting his life offstage as a newly divorced father of two girls.

‘Louie Season 5’ will air all day on March 24, starting 12 pm and onwards on FX and FX HD.

SAB TV
Staying true to its core belief of ‘Asli Mazaa SAB Ke Saath Aata Hai’, SAB TV will bring a ‘mazedaar’ experience for its viewers with its fun, colourful and entertaining event ‘SAB Ki Holi’. Hosting the event this year will be TV’s much loved and iconic duo Kiku Sharda and Ali Asgar. The fun filled extravaganza of ‘SAB Ki Holi’ will be aired on Thursday, March 24, from 9 pm onwards on the channel.

This year, SAB Ki Holi, set against a colourful backdrop, will be representative of colours from the channels’ shows evocative of the values that these shows signify. For instance, Blue is the colour of unity like in the members of Gokuldham colony in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. Popular rapper Badshah as well television actors Rashmi Desai, Debina Bonnerjee and Aamir Ali will also be performing to the season’s most popular Bollywood tracks.

The star-cast of ‘Baal Veer’ is set to enthral with a breath taking aerial performance, followed by a power-packed act by the Ghotala’s from ‘Badi Dooor Se Aaye Hai’. The ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ team also promises to excite the viewers with the entire cast dancing together as one big family to popular songs like ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and ‘Galla Gudiyan’. The finale act will see SAB TV actors come together for a grand performance. These apart, stand-up comedy talents like Sugandha Mishra, Rajiv Thakur and Kiku Sharda will also entertain the audience with their gags.

Speaking on the channel’s Holi line-up, Anooj Kapoor, Senior EVP & Business Head, SAB TV, said, “We are very excited to bring to our audiences yet another spectacular celebration - SAB Ki Holi. This year, the event will symbolise the various colours of life and the emotions they stand for. Every show on SAB represents a unique characteristic or virtue, which will be brought alive on stage. We are confident that our viewers will enjoy this colourful and grand show. Here’s wishing everyone a very happy and safe Holi.”

During the celebrations, Kisna and his friends will take up the challenge of winning the honourable flag in the competition arranged by the Mukhiya of Nandgaon. To reach the flag, kids will have to walk through a trap surrounded by people waiting to colour them from the roofs of their houses.

The older group of kids, who have been winning the competition every year in Nandgaon, are confident that they will win this time as well. Kisna’s friends attempt to reach the flag, but one after the other, all of them fail. Will Kisna be able to hoist the flag? Or will Nandgaon lose the competition this year as well?
