L’Oréal gets its first Indian Managing Director in Amit Jain

L’Oréal has brought on board Amit Jain as its India Managing Director, effective August 1, 2018. He succeeds Jean-Christophe Letellier, who after 5 years in the role, will take on an important position within the L’Oréal Group. 

Jain will be L’Oréal India’s first Indian Managing Director. His career spans over 30 years with renowned companies across countries such as ICI, Coca Cola, Viacom and Akzo Nobel. In his last role, Jain held the position of Managing Director, North-West Europe for Akzo Nobel, based in Amsterdam.

Under his leadership, the country experienced significant sales growth, revolutionised digital and e-commerce platforms, and achieved ambitious targets in skill development and environmental sustainability,” said Pierre-Yves Arzel, Vice President - South Asia Pacific Zone, L’Oréal.

Jain will also look after Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. He will report to Pierre-Yves Arzel, Vice President - South Asia Pacific Zone, and additionally to Jochen Zaumseil, Vice President - APAC. 

Jain holds a MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) and has done an Advanced Management Program from the Wharton Business School. 

L’Oréal India has been present in the country as a wholly-owned subsidiary of L’Oréal S.A. since 1994. Today, L’Oréal India is present in all distribution channels with 14 brands, available in mass market channels (L’Oréal Paris, Garnier, Maybelline New-York, NYX Professional Makeup); in hair and beauty salons (L’Oréal Professionnel, Matrix, Kérastase, Cheryl’s Cosmeceuticals, Decleor); in selective distribution (Kiehl’s, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Diesel). 

L’Oréal India employs over 1,600 people across its headquarters in Mumbai, four regional offices, two manufacturing facilities in Chakan (Pune) and in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and Research and Innovation facilities in Mumbai and Bangalore.
