Hakuhodo Percept firms up Planning team, appoints Samir Datar as SVP

Hakuhodo Percept has strengthened its planning team by appointing Samir Datar as Senior Vice President, Planning. Datar moves from Grey, Delhi. He continues to be based out of Delhi playing an integral role in Hakuhodo’s Planning team and will also be involved in strategic efforts in Account Management on some of the key businesses including Maruti Suzuki.

Datar’s appointment comes close on the heels of Sharad Mathur joining in as Senior Vice President, Client Servicing, to lead the Maruti Suzuki Relationship.

Confirming Datar’s appointment, Elvis Sequeira, Chief Operating Officer, Hakuhodo India, said, “Hakuhodo is a young, nimble organisation that is in a continuous cycle of transformation and change. And nothing excites us more than trying unconventional things – and that includes our talent acquisition policy. We are gradually moving towards becoming a seamless, department- less ideas company. Samir is a fabulous fit for where we want to go. He's both planning and account management, in equal measure and his experience, background and maturity are added bonuses. We look forward to doing fantastic things together.”

Datar has spent more than 20 years in advertising, working on some of the most iconic brands such as Maggi, Samsung, LG, Hyundai and ESPN across agency brands that include J. Walter Thompson, Cheil, and HS Ads, among others. In his time as Head of Grey Delhi, he rebuilt the Government business with Swachh Bharat, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Coastguard. A perfect blend of Strategic Planning and Account Management, Samir brings a business perspective to the creative process.

On taking charge of his new assignment at Hakuhodo Percept, Samir Datar said, “After meeting the core leadership team, I realised that Hakuhodo is a very exciting place to be. I was very impressed with the culture of looking at a solution that goes beyond just creating advertising. Nexa is a perfect example of elevating the premium appeal for a brand without losing the essence and the strong equity. I am delighted to be part of this vibrant team in the next phase of growth.”
