Fox Traveller Diaries | It's about exploring new things: Canon India's Andrew Koh

A lot of people who have shared their travel experiences with us in this section have mention how important it is to capture the beautiful holiday moments in pictures. Well, in this edition of Fox Traveller Diaries, we scan through the travel diary of someone from the business of capturing moments.

Andrew Koh, is the Senior Director, Image Communication Products (ICP), Canon India and believes that travelling is all about the right attitude and the desire to explore new things. At Canon India, his extensive capabilities of understanding markets and developing processes have in a lot of ways proved to be a strong force in streamlining the ICP business whilst maintaining premium and aspirational brand equity. He mentions that his work life involves a lot of travel, but he prefers to holiday with his family.

Here’s a look at how Andrew Koh opens up his travel diary…

Fox Traveller Diaries (FTD): If there is one place you can keep going back to for a holiday, where would it be?

Andrew Koh (AK): Japan

FTD: Tell us three good things about travelling.

AK: Get to see new things and try new food, meet interesting people and an opportunity to click lot of new photos!

FTD: When you travel, what is a must carry for you?

AK: It has to be a good camera; I have a compact S110 and DSLR EOS 100D!

FTD: When and where did your best holiday happen?

AK: I was about eight years ago in New Zealand.

FTD: As a traveller, what’s your tip for the others?

AK: Go with an open mind and explore new things!

FTD: A colleague/co-worker from your industry with whom you would like to go on a holiday.

AK: I prefer to go on holiday(s) with my Family.

FTD: Have you ever been surprised by the taste of food, outside India? Where?

AK: It was Beef Tartar which is raw minced beef which I had in Poland.

FTD: What and where has been your best bazaar bargain so far?

AK: It was in USA at the factory outlets!

FTD: Which has been the most unique destination that you ever visited? When and why?

AK: Chille

FTD: Tell us how have you managed to make a journey fun.

AK: It’s all about the right attitude and the desire to explore new things.

FTD: A gourmet gaffe that you would like to share.

AK: None 

FTD: What has been your worst travel moment? Why?

AK: It was in Beint, Lebnanon during the war time when I was the only one in hotel!

FTD: What is the best souvenir you ever bought for anyone?

AK: Nothing.

A dexterous professional with career spanning over 25 years, Koh brings with him a robust experience in the Imaging Communications business. In this illustrious career, Koh has spent 16 years with Canon.

In the start of his career, Koh served as Marketing Manager for Imaging Systems Products that included microfilm printers and document scanners. Moving ahead, he played a significant role as the head of Computer Peripheral Division wherein he was actively involved in driving Canon’s leadership in the Single Function Printer and AIO (all-in-one machines) space. He also steered the entire gamut of Consumer Imaging & Information Group in Singapore as Senior Director and General Manager and was effective in formulating future marketing strategies in line with the company’s vision.

Koh holds a Masters degree in Strategic Marketing from the University of Hull and a Diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).
