Federation of Zoroastrian Anjumans of India launch the JIYO PARSI Campaign

The Parzor Foundation and Bombay Parsi Panchayat, with TISS, Mumbai and Federation of Zoroastrian Anjumans of India launched the “Jiyo Parsi” campaign amongst a gathering of eminent personalities. The “Jiyo Parsi Scheme” developed from the Bombay Parsi Panchayat Fertility Project, run by Dr Anahita Pandole which has been taken up on a National level by the Indian Government and the Parzor Foundation to arrest the decline in population of the Parsi Zoroastrian Community in India.

Over the centuries, since the Zoroastrians arrived in India, they have integrated themselves into Indian society while simultaneously maintaining their own distinct customs, traditions and ethnic identity. As India’s population more than tripled in 60 years, the number of Parsis has reduced by 39% and is less than 69,000 today. This joyful, eccentric, food-loving & fun-loving community has been dwindling in numbers and to bring this to a halt the “Jiyo Parsi” campaign aims to spread awareness on the scheme initiated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), Government of India, to reverse the decline in the Parsi population by adopting scientific protocols and structured interventions, to stabilize and increase the population of Parsis in India.

Showing support towards the campaign were chief guest H.E Masood E. Khaleghi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran and renowned Indian Actress Perizaad Zorabian.  Lara Balsara - Executive Director, Madison World also took the stage to showcase details on the campaign which aims to spread as much awareness on the critical decline in numbers mainly caused due to late and non marriages, fertility decline, immigration, marriages outside the community, separation and divorces.

Using humor as a means of communicating the concerned issues Madison World has created a series of Print commercials with the aim to reach out to the Parsi youth and employ their support to drive awareness.
