ESPNcricinfo & Twitter partner to create engagement around World T20

As part of its endeavour to engage with Indian cricket fans anytime, anywhere, ESPNcricinfo has announced a partnership with Twitter to bring to fans CricIQ for the World Cup T20. This flagship cricket trivia game can be accessed simply by tweeting to @ESPNScorecard with #CricIQ. Fans will then be provided a grid with numbers, each of which corresponds to questions of varying degrees of difficulty. Players can respond by tweeting the answers to @ESPNScorecard.

The quickest, highest scorer of each day will be declared the day’s winner, while the top three contestants with the highest legitimate cumulative scores at the end of the tournament period will be declared the top winners of the quiz with prizes on offer.

Continuing its focus on bringing fans in India closer to the sports they love by offering quality content across multiple platforms, ESPNcricinfo also announced #FanDugOut, which captures the emotion and passion of fans through photographs taken by them prior to, during and after matches and featured on ESPNcricinfo’s Twitter handle. It aims to showcase the passion and excitement among cricket fans in the country and help initiate fan-driven conversations.

Through the partnership with Twitter, ESPNcricinfo aims to tap into the enthusiasm among fans on the go. “With a robust multi-platform strategy, ESPNcricinfo aims to make fans’ experiences during the ongoing tournament, memorable,” Gaurav Thakur, Director – Business Development, ESPNcricinfo, said. “The World T20 has proved to be an exciting contest so far and we are confident this partnership with Twitter for the World T20 CricIQ Social will invite even more fans to take the quiz and stand a chance to win exciting prizes,” he added.

Aneesh Madani, Head of Sports Partnerships, Twitter India, said, “Twitter is the first and most authentic mobile communications tool for cricket fans around the world. Our partnership with ESPNcricinfo for #CricIQ and #FanDugOut is a testimony of our commitment to bring cricket closer yet to fans across the country. We’re delighted that they have innovated to give fans great reasons to Tweet during the ICC World T20.”

Cricket lovers can tweet to get involved in CricIQ Social and #FanDugOut till April 3, 2016. Only fans based in India are eligible for the prizes.
