Dettol Germbursters: Using bubbles to lure kids into hand washing

In India, melas comes as an opportunity for children to have a great time – whether it is fun-filled rides, games rides or street food. However, with them also comes an opportunity for germs to make children susceptible to diseases. To counter this, McCann Worldwide, New Delhi came up with an innovative idea for Dettol to make children’s hands germfree. Organised in Kokan Mela, in Mumbai, Dettol designed an activity to make the process of hand washing an enjoyable experience.

They created a unique solution formulated with Dettol Handwash and the bubble solvent. When the children burst the bubbles, their hands turned soapy. Further, Dettol placed their representatives to wash their hands.

Further, Dettol also created Bubble Guns for children, so that they inculcate the habit of hand washing, at their homes as well.

A senior Pediatricians in Mumbai, Dr. Shailesh Gupta, quoted, “It is difficult to make children wash their hands. And due to unclean hands, kids are susceptible to many illnesses. I think, this exercise is a wonderful initiative by Dettol, as it really engages children into hand washing in a way they love and enjoy.”

Dettol, with the successful implementation of the idea, is now carrying out this activity in various fairs, across the country.
