The television show that enriched the average Indian’s dance vocabulary with concepts like Locking and Popping, Lyrical Hip Hop, B-Boying, Kalaripayattu, Paso Doble, Slo-Mo and Aerial is back on the tube. Fans of the show from across the country can rejoice as India’s most definitive platform for dance –
Zee TV’sDance India Dance return to your screens this June with an all new season 5. Making household names out of judges Geeta Kapur, Terence Lewis and Remo Dsouza, host Jay Bhanushali and superlative talent like Salman, Shakti, Prince, Dharmesh and Raghav amongst many others, the show has brought respect and recognition to dance as a vocation and introduced India’s entertainment fraternity to some of its finest dancers and choreographers.  With each successive season, DID has set higher and higher benchmarks for excellence in dance and the new season presents itself in the form of the ‘Biggest Battleground of Dance’, where each participant will set a certain standard with their dancing prowess and challenge the other to #BeatThat!

The show is produced by ZEEL’s content engine, Essel Vision Productions Limited. The auditions for DID Season 5  began in April and were held across 17 cities to scout for the most deserving dancing talent. To groom the contestants and bring out the best in them, DID 5 brings on board an all-new, young trio of masters– the charming Muddassar Khan, the dynamic danseuse Gaiti Siddiqui who’s been a coach and creative guide for countless DID stars over the years and an immensely popular former contestant of DID Punit Pathak.  Actor Mithun Chakravarty is the Grand Master on the show.

While master Mudassar has been on the judges’ panel in the previous seasons, it’s a new role for Gaiti and Punit. Life has clearly come a full circle for Punit who began his journey as a contestant in the second season of DID and is now back as a judge on the show.  Commenting on donning the hat of a judge, an elated Punit said, ‘It’s a great feeling! Never did I imagine that one day I will be on the other side of the table as a judge on the same show that I made a humble beginning to my journey as a dancer. Very rarely does an ex-contestant of a reality show graduate to become a judge on the same show and I consider myself blessed to have been able to get that opportunity. It’s a huge responsibility and I hope that I’m able to impart as much knowledge as I have gathered since my debut years ago on DID and fairly judge the contestants.’

An equally excited Gaiti said, ‘I have been associated with DID for a long time now, creatively supervising some of the acts you’ve seen over the previous seasons. So, I understand the responsibility that comes along with being a judge on such a prestigious platform – I feel very equipped to identify, groom and mentor the talent as I have been closely involved with the process all along.’

Commenting on his comeback on the show, master Muddassar said, ‘It’s always fun to be part of the DID family. This season will be an open and explosive battleground for dancers who have the passion and the drive to take on new challenges and prove their mettle with one spectacular act after another, constantly upping the ante and  outshining the rest. Which is why, we say ‘Beat That!”

The passion, the frenzy, the camaraderie, the rehearsals, the victories, the disappointments, and above all, the spectacular talent will all be back with a BANG as DID 5 is all set to hit the tube this June, only on Zee TV!
