Cannes Lions 2018: Day 2 yields 18 shortlists for Indian agencies

Shortlists for the Industry Craft, Digital Craft, Film Craft, Brand Experience & Activation, Creative eCommerce, Entertainment and Entertainment Lions for Music categories have been announced on Day 2 of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2018. A total of 18 shortlists have been secured by Indian agencies. This is in addition to the 28 shortlists already secured. So far, Indian agencies have won a Grand Prix and 4 Lions. 

Film Craft Lions has seen Indian agencies secure 6 shortlists. Three entries from Early Man Films have been shortlisted in Film Craft – all for The Story of Kaveri campaign to drive reforestation. Madhya Pradesh Tourism has secured 2 shortlists for its World’s Most Honest Tourism Film. JWT India’s campaign for The Times of India – ‘Times Spark: A Salam to Kalam’ – has been shortlisted. 

Brand Experience and Activation category has four shortlisted entries from India – 2 from DDB Mudra and one each from FCB India and Ogilvy India. DDB Mudra Group Mumbai’s work done for Johnson & Johnson’s brand Stayfree sanitary pads – Project Free Period – has secured two shortlists. This campaign has already bagged a Silver Lion in the Health & Wellness category. FCB India has secured one shortlist for its Sindoor Khela - No Conditions Apply campaign done for The Times of India. The Vodafone Sakhi campaign done for Vodafone India has fetched a shortlist for Ogilvy India. 

There are more shortlists for DDB Mudra, this time in Entertainment Lions for Music. The agency has secured two shortlists for its work, titled Suede Gully, done for Puma Suede Classic Shoes. 

The Industry Craft category has seen Creativeland Asia securing four shortlists – two shortlists each for the Madhubani and Pattachitra work done for Mercedes Benz India. 

The newly created category, Creative eCommerce Lions, has seen McCann Worldgroup India securing two shortlists for its campaign Sweet Change done for Paytm. 

There are no shortlists for India in the Digital Craft and Entertainment categories.
