BARC Wk 17: No change in Top 10 rankings; channels gain viewership

BARC India data for Week 17 (Saturday, April 20 to Friday, April 26) of 2019 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals], shows no change in the rankings of the top 10 Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban for the second consecutive week. However, most channels saw increase in their gross viewership this week. 

This week, Dangal TV saw an increase in its gross viewership to 1,081,105, compared to 990,660 recorded in Week 16, even as the channel continues to top the Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. 

Big Magic’s gross viewership also saw an increase in Week 17 to 797,198, from 729,166 recorded last week. The channel remained unchanged at No. 2. 

With a gross viewership of 692,226, Star Plus, too, saw an increase compared to 646,662 recorded in Week 16. The channel continued to be placed in the third spot this week as well. 

Continuing in the fourth spot, Zee TV, too, saw further increase in its gross viewership in Week 17 at 573,404, compared to 539,891 recorded in Week 16. 

Colors remained unchanged in the fifth spot in Week 17 as well. The channel, too, saw an increase in its gross viewership at 508602, as against 498,378 recorded last week. 

There was no change in the ranking of Sony Entertainment Television as well, which continued at No. 6 in Week 17, garnering a gross viewership of 461,837, a further decline from 469,575 recorded last week. 

There was no change in the rankings of Sony SAB, Star Bharat, &TV and Sony Pal, which continued at No. 7, No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in Week 17 as well. 

Sony SAB garnered a gross viewership of 424,347, an increase from 392,182 recorded in Week 16. On the other hand, Star Bharat saw a decline in its gross viewership for this week, which stood at 288,020, compared to 292,314 recorded in Week 16. &TV recorded a gross viewership of 137,654, a further decline from 144,751 recorded in Week 16. Sony Pal, which had entered the top 10 list at No. 10 in Week 15, continued in this position in Week 17 as well, garnering a gross viewership of 127,987, an increase from 116,341 recorded last week. 

Top 5 shows of Week 15 

Two of Dangal TV’s shows continued to be the most watched in Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban in Week 17 as well. This week, ‘Ramayan’, was the most watched show with 12,471 Impressions (000s). Another mythological show from the broadcaster, ‘Mahima Shanidev Ki’, which had slipped to the third spot in Week 16, climbed up a notch to the second spot with 11,259 Impressions (000s). 

Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ remained in the second spot this week with 10,989 Impressions (000s). ‘Kundali Bhagya’, the spin-off show of the long-running ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, was placed in the fourth spot with 10,645 Impressions (000s). ‘Tujhse Hai Raabta’, another daily soap on Zee TV, took over the fifth spot with 8,731 (000) Impressions, replacing Color’s ‘Naagin 3’.
