BARC Wk 1: Zee Anmol tops GECs; Super Dancer 3, Kapil Sharma off to great start

The New Year has brought good tidings for Star channels even as Zee Anmol started the year on a strong note. BARC ratings for Week 1 (December 29 - January 4) of 2019 [HSM (U+R): NCCS all: 2+ Individuals] saw Zee Anmol further consolidate its numero uno position with a jump in its gross viewership. Sony’s shows – ‘Super Dancer Chapter 3 - Auditions’ and ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ – kicked off on a high note. 

Zee Anmol starts the New Year by holding firm to its numero uno position. The channel saw a jump in its gross viewership to 823,945 in Week 1 of 2019 from 783,610 in Week 52 of 2018. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ continued as the most watched show on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban in Week 1 with 14,449 (000) Impressions. 

Star Plus, which had slipped to No. 4 in Week 52, gained grounds in the New Year, climbing up a couple of notches to No. 2, garnering a gross viewership of 670,747, a jump from 621,686 recorded last week. The airing of ‘Star Screen Awards 2019’ has given this huge boost to the channel, garnering 11,839 (000) Impressions. In the Urban markets, the Awards show was the most watched with 9,109 (000) Impressions. 

Zee TV slipped a notch to the third spot in Week 1. The channel continued to witness a decline in its gross viewership – from 667,580 in Week 52 to 648,320 this week. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ continued to be placed fourth among the most watched shows with 10,910 (000) Impressions. 

Star Bharat, too, slipped a notch to the fourth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 611,114, a decline from 650,558 recorded in the last week of 2018. Its mythological show, ‘Radhakrishn’, didn’t feature among the top 5 channels in Week 1. 

Buoyed by the telecast of the grand finale of ‘Indian Idol’, Sony Entertainment Television had jumped to the fifth position last week, a position it held on to in Week 1 of 2019. Sony recorded a gross viewership of 598,328, a jump from 497,633 recorded in Week 52. Two of the channel’s shows feature among the top 5 shows this week. The Auditions round of ‘Super Dancer – Chapter 3’ was the third most watched show on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 11,185 (000) Impressions. ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ made a grand comeback and was the fifth most watched show in Rural+Urban with 10,542 (000) Impressions. Meanwhile, the popular comedy show was the second most watched show in Urban markets with 8,123 (000) Impressions. ‘Super Dancer Chapter 3 - Auditions’ was placed third in Urban markets with 7,678 (000) Impressions. 

Colors climbed up a notch to the sixth spot in Week 1, garnering a gross viewership of 584,887, an increase from 551,962 recorded last week. Colors’ prime property, ‘Naagin 3’, slipped out of the top 5 shows list this week. 

Star Utsav, meanwhile, slipped a notch to No. 7 in Week 1, recording a gross viewership of 564,417, a slight dip from 567,006 recorded last week. 

Continuing unchanged at No. 8, Sony Pal garnered a gross viewership of 533,528, a marginal decline from 538,666 recorded last week. 

Dangal TV climbed up a notch to No. 9, garnering a gross viewership of 463740, a slight increase from 459,737 recorded last week. 

Rishtey, on the other hand, slipped a notch to No. 10 in Week 1, recording a gross viewership of 460,052, a marginal decline from 464,947 recorded last week.
