Amit Shankar joins Grey as Executive Creative Director

Grey India has hired Amit Shankar as Executive Creative Director and Creative Head in Delhi. After strengthening their Mumbai creative team, Grey is strengthening Delhi.

Jishnu Sen, COO, Grey India says, "Amit joining is part of the overall strategy of building a really strong Creative Team. It also coincides with our Delhi operation picking up steam. We have very ambitious plans for Delhi and I am looking forward to Amit working with Ketan Desai in an effort to realise that ambition."

Amit began his career with Percept Advertising in 1996 working on clients like, Siemens Telecom Limited, Honda Motors and Coca Cola. Amit is also no stranger to Grey where he spent 5 years of his career working with the agency on clients like Samsung, Revlon, Hindustan Times, Domino's, Aaj Tak, Indian Airlines, Business Today, Dainik Jagran and SBI Credit Card. He joins Grey from Contract advertising which saw him handle clients like Suzuki (Grand Vitara, WagonR), Microsoft (Windows XP), NIIT ( Edgeineers, Corporate, Networklabs), Dabur, Creambell Ice cream, Honda(HSMI), JK Tyre, Greenpeace and Whirlpool India Ltd.

Amit's 15 year career spans just a handful of agencies, with lengthy tenures at Contract and Percept, and an earlier stint at Grey. At Contract, Amit was responsible for a team that worked extensively on Domino's Pizza, Whirlpool home appliances, NIIT and SET WET range of deodorants. He also spearheaded the launch of NIIT Edgeineers and NetworkLabs, developed the creative for the relaunch of Microsoft Windows XP in India, as well as relaunched Honda's corporate image for motorcycles and scooters. He has worked across a wide range of categories as well as done public service campaigns for clients.

On his appointment, Amit Shankar said, "This is going to be a bit of a homecoming for me actually. Grey was where I learned much as a junior from some exceptional minds in the business. Now it's a privilege for me to lead the place. I am also looking forward to working with Malvika and Amit who are incredibly talented people and have a great vision for Grey, as well as Ketan, who I have worked with before. Grey does have some really good clients and I am looking forward to working alongside them."

Amit has won several national and international awards, he has featured extensively in Luerzer's Archive. His creative work for Jivanjor adhesives was the first Indian piece of creative to feature on the cover of Archive. He won the India Today award for his work on the "My India My Pride' campaign.
