Meanwhile, striking a blow to self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the CBI Court in Panchkula gave its verdict yesterday (August 25, 2017) that the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief is guilty of rape. The judgement led to wide scale violence and arson in Haryana, Punjab and Delhi by the Dera followers, in which several news reporters and camerapersons were attacked and OB vans of some news channels were destroyed. In a press statement issued, the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) has condemned the assault.
