TV5 to launch news channel in Kannada on 2nd October.

Leading Telugu news channel TV5 is set to launch TV5 Kannada and mark this as their expansive move to foray into Karnataka after a decade long successful run in Andhra Pradesh since its launch in 2007. TV5 Telugu has apparently been among the top two news channels of the region. TV5 is also the only Telugu news channel available in the USA on the Dish Network. The channel is set to launch in Bengaluru on the pertinent day of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, October 2nd.

B.R. Naidu, Chairman, TV5 Network in a statement said, “Today, we unravel another golden chapter in our splendid saga as we officially step in to Karnataka and launch TV5 Kannada News channel.” “There could not have been a holier occasion than Mahatma’s birth anniversary to step in to Karnataka.” While sharing his plans for the new channel during the launch invite, he mentioned that, “It will be our endeavour to replicate the best practices, uncompromising standards and journalistic ethics besides an uncharted promise to be on the side of the society. While doing so, we enchant to give our best to Kannada homes with knowledge, information and thought-provoking content,”

The channel has therefore, set high expectations with the Kannada version of news channel as the predecessor TV5 Telugu had set the bar high with reaching about one lakh viewers within two months of its launch.

Apart from TV5 Kannada, the network also runs various channels under TV5 banner that include TV5 News, Hindu Dharmam, TV5 Money and TV5 USA.
