Timescity's revamped Android and iOS app launched

TimesCity is counted as one of India’s premier one-stop city guide to Food, Nightlife, Movies and Events in your city. Based on the popular Times Food Guide and Times Nightlife Guide, TimesCity enables you to make an informed choice with the accurate reviews, ratings, listings and recommendations from a renowned panel of food critics as well as passionate foodies. It is the first restaurant reviews site in India to feature video reviews. In addition to being a comprehensive restaurants & nightlife guide, TimesCity also features latest movie trailers, film reviews and theatre listings to help you plan that perfect weekend.

Timescity.com, has recently launched a whole new experience around its iPhone and Android Apps to enable consumers to discover the best restaurants, movies, events, and nightlife in their city. It’s a quick, easy and smart location-based app with the most relevant and updated information on what’s happening in your city.

The app features listings and recommendations based on location, type of event, and must-try & must-do things in and around where users are. Users can search & filter based on their preference of distance, ratings and price. Be it a new taste, a new flick, a new gig, or anything to do with entertainment, TimesCity has it covered!

Adgully caught up with Miten Sampat, Business Head, TimesCity to know more about the decision of revamping the app.

Timescity.com has been in existence from 9 odd months, speaking about the need behind revamping the app, he said, "Well the need that we saw was from our own usage of the app. It is quite difficult to keep a track all the activities happening in and around the city hence we thought of giving the people one-click-destination info with this app."

The new things that have been added to the app are sections like Whats Hot, personalisation and a trending section. Though the aim is to expand pan-india but right now as per Sampat the focus is in 11 cities as of now, namely: Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Ahmadabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Goa.

Speaking about how would they market and promote the app, he stated that, "Since the app is designed by ourselves, within the team, it has been done with an aim to make the customers get a comprehensive experience of their city. So the idea is to distribute as much as we can and let the consumers experience the app". Though Sampat refrained from sharing the exact market plan, he mentioned that distribution and awareness is the focus.

On a general observation, we all have and use apps like Zomato and Burpp which could lie in the radius of being a close competition to Timescity app. Elaborating on how do they deal with competition, Sampat said, "Yes we do have competition but the fact is that all these apps are best destinations for food but on Timescity app we are giving the users a completely different experience and features in terms of giving them all the information about the city and around under one umbrella."

Sampat remarks that though they are in talks with restraunts and brands for tie-ups, but it is too early to share the names.

The app is available for download on the Google Play store, Apple Appstore (iOS) & Blackberry World and soon will be available on Windows as well.
