Sujay Kutty joins as Biz Head-Films at ZEE; takes over from Akash Chawla

Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) has appointed Sujay Kutty as Business Head – Films for its content production arm, Zee Studios. He takes over from Akash Chawla, who recently quit as EVP and Head of Film Business, Zee Studios. This is Kutty’s second stint with ZEEL. 

Kutty joins in from Colors Bangla, where he was Channel Head. He was with the channel for almost two years. Prior to that, he was with ZEEL for almost 12-and-a-half years and was EVP – Business Head of Zee Bangla at the time of quitting the organisation in April 2014. Kutty has also worked with Sony Entertainment Television. 

Meanwhile, Akash Chawla has quit ZEEL after a 12-year stint. He had joined the Zee Network in May 2005 as Brand Head, Zee TV and went on to helm senior level positions at the organisation. In May 2016, Chawla, in addition to his portfolio as Business Head - Essel Vision Productions/ Zee Studios for content creation on films, television and digital, was also given charge as Business Head of Zee TV. While Deepak Rajadhyaksha, who was heading business for Zee Marathi, took on the responsibility of Deputy Business Head, Zee TV. 

As part of the core senior management team in ZEEL, Chawla headed the content studio for Zee – Zee Studios – that is focused on creating and monetising content across all platforms. His all round experience spans across positions of heading business across content creation, acquisition and creating/ launching brands in the entertainment space.
