Spice-Sangam Kala Group duet to seek India's Most Talented

Spice Digital, one of India's leading value-added services (VAS) players, will collaborate with the Sangam Kala Group (SKG) by sponsoring the SKG's annual national talent hunt, which will be called Spice Surtarang. The SKG, founded in 1974, is a well-regarded cultural group that aspires to identify and promote grassroots talent in dance, drama, and music through its countrywide talent-scouting initiatives.

SKG's stellar 36-year history glitters with remarkable success in spotting talent. Its search has yielded such stars as Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, and Sunidhi Chauhan. Some of SKG's recent discoveries include Harshit, Abhaas, Vineet, Toshi, and Ashpreet.

As for Spice Digital, its pioneering mobile radio has made it the undisputed market leader and affords great entertainment to mobile users. Spice's music delivery platform allows music aficionados to search and enjoy the music long tail. The platform also gives access to high quality, and carefully selected regional music.

Spice's recent innovation is the "mobile audition', which lets Spice Surtarang contestants record their songs and invite votes. To use the service, contestants have to dial 54321333. It is a live service and is available across all major mobile operators including Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, and Tata.

The Spice Surtarang talent hunt comprises three categories: sub-junior (five to 12 years), junior (12-18 years) and senior (18-28 years), across "Filmy' and "Non-Filmy' sections. Participants who are short-listed by mobile auditions make it into regional rounds, which will be held across the country. Those who succeed here will be ushered into the national round.
