Republic TV continues its growth story in the English News genre

Republic TV has continued to lead the English news space ever since its launch in May this year. The channel, which started life with a gross viewership of 2,117 [BARC Week 19 (May 6-12) All India (U+R) : NCCS AB : Males 22+ Individuals], has seen a slide in its gross viewership over the months, still it has been able to hold its own, recording 982 gross viewership in Week 39 (September 23-29). 

As per BARC data (1Mn+, Week 39, Target NCCS AB Male 22+ Prime Time 2100 to 2300 – Week days), Republic TV garnered a channel share of 60 per cent. Closest competitor Times Now lagged behind with 14.3 per cent share, followed by India Today Television (11.5 per cent), CNN New18 (9.0 per cent), NDTV (4.9 per cent) and NewsX (0.3 per cent). 

Republic TV has also seen the highest time spent per viewer on the channel amongst the English News channels at 5.57 minutes, whereas the average time spent per viewer overall in the genre was 4.45 minutes. 

Republic TV has also been sprucing up its programme line-up with special programmes. On October 7 and 8, the channel aired a two-part Air Force Day Special series – ‘Air Battle of Srinagar’.
