Nitesh Kripalani has put in his papers at Sony Liv

Nitesh Kripalani, executive VP new media, business development and digital/syndication at Multi Screen Media (Sony Entertainment Network) has resigned from the network. It is believed that he put in his papers at the company a week ago. His next move is yet to be confirmed though he says that he is weighing his options.

With this sudden move his stint of five years at MSM ends. The mastermind behind the sports arm viz. Sony Six, Sony Liv and Liv Sports at MSM he was recently ranked amongst the top 40 executives in India by Business Today. It was a proud moment for him when the magazine acknowledged his acumen in the channels’ success at MSM.

He joined MSM in 2009 where the three portfolios that he headed include sports, new media and business development. Though he initially joined as VP of planning and analysis in June 2010 he was later promoted as VP of business development and digital/syndication and contributed to the broadcast network’s programming syndication and M&A initiatives.

In April 2013 he was promoted further as EVP new media, business development and digital/syndication and takes the credit for the launch of Sony Liv and the digital sports entertainment channel Liv Sports. Although the success of Sony Liv digital platform can be attributed to Kripalani, it had undoubtedly been a challenging phase for him when he chose the advertising revenue generation route for the digital platform.
