How Kids Channels are beating the heat this summer!

Finally the summer holidays are here again! With no school, no homework and no early morning wake ups, it’s time for the little tycoons to relax and enjoy the summers with lots of free time. With such scorching heat and unable to venture outdoors all that the kids have to keep themselves occupied, this summer is the television. May-June is that period of the year when we have all the kids at home having parents at their beck and call, but realizing that parents too have busy schedules of their own , they have no other option but to sit in front of the television to entertain themselves.

We at Adgully took an initiative and asked various kids channels as to what they have in store for their little viewers this summer.

Let’s see what Turner offers for fun-time: Pogo channel under its Pogo series and Pogo Movies the channel is all set to woo the kids this summer. Scan 2 Go – Starts 9th June every Sunday at 10pm: Scan2Go is a series that shows the epic space adventure of young men and women. These adventures helped our main character in the series is Kazuya and his friends develop great friendships and grow to discover new things. Watch the show to know how this gang sets off on a universe-wide quest to hone their skills as warriors.

Pokémon: Black & White starts 17th June every Monday to Thursday at 9:30pm. This show is the 14th season of the Pokémon animated series. Pokémon Trainer Ash Ketchum Ash and his Pikachu set out to enter the Unova League, encountering new Pokémon and battling rivals and Gym Leaders.
Movies such as Batu Gaide, Game Over Mighty Raju, Sons of Ram and Humara Hero Shaktiman  will be aired on 1st June at 2pm, 2nd June at 12pm, 8th June at 2pm and 30th June at 12pm respectively.

Cartoon Network has launched new seasons of existing popular shows such as Roll No.21 and Oggy and the Cockroaches.  With a focus on movies as well as with several premieres such as Batu Gaiden on the channel, CN has a full plan to woo the little shaitans.

This summer, Cartoon Network and POGO aired new shows and movies to encourage a high level of engagement across all platforms including, TV, online and on-ground.”

Nick pulls out all stops to ensure kids have an entertaining summer holiday. With the brand new home-grown hilarious chase comedy Pakdam Pakdai and new season of the popular show Motu Patlu kids will be entertained like never before. That’s not all! Kids also get a chance to party with Ninja Hattori by participating in ‘Chocolate Horlicks Presents Nick Party with Ninja Contest’.

Speaking about this exciting initiative, Nina Elavia Jaipuria, Executive Vice President & Business Head, Kids’ Cluster, Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd, says, “Kids have formed an unbreakable bond with Ninja Hattori. We wanted to make their summer truly memorable by giving them a once in a lifetime opportunity of partying with their favorite super hero and that too by hosting Ninja in their own city! The engagement will continue all summer on Nick ensuring that the kids have a fabulous vacation.”

Making this summer vacation even more enjoyable, Discovery Kids’ offers special treat of three animated adventure movies based on the inspiring and timeless stories of Tintin.  In each movie special premiering every Sunday starting May 12that 10 a.m., Tintin will engage kids with his intriguing escapades, curious mind, riveting investigations and solve the deepest mysteries.  

All animated adaptations of one of the most popular comic classics of all times, Tintin movies premiering on Discovery Kids include Tintin and the Calculus Affair  on May 12th, Tintin and the Lake of Sharksairing on May 19th and Tintin and the Prisoners of the Sun on May 26 2013. 

Rahul Johri, Senior Vice President and General Manager - South Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, said, “This summer vacation kids will be presented with an exciting line-up of television entertainment with the biggest animation series, Transformers Prime and three Tintin movies from Discovery Kids. Tintin will entertain, engage and enlighten the kids with his clever and curious adventures all through the month of May.”

ZeeQ, a Zee Learn initiative that believes in preparing children for the 21st century through programs and stories that educate, inform and build life skills - all in an engaging manner have no special offering for summer vacations though the channel has launched three new initiatives namely, Weekly Rap which is a half an hour show featuring the happenings and news around us. The aim is to provide quality news and scientific reasons and implementations of the happenings around the world.
The other programme  being Saari which is a complete entertainment show full of happening and peppy music for the kids. The third one is Zee Q tunes, wherein all the music and songs of the animated shows on Zee Q is compiled and formatted in a Karaoke format hence encouraging the kids’ involvement and engagement.  
Anuj Katiyar, Head, Marketing & Research, Zee Learn said, “We believe that learning should not lack behind at any cost or time of the year. Our philosophy is that education never stops whether its vacation time or school time. Our shows are all educationally rich so anytime kids switch to our channel they will gain something.”   

Where marketing plans are concerned Krishna Desai elaborating on this said , “To provide a high level of engagement with kids, each channel had contests that gratify kids with the most amazing and unique prizes. On Cartoon Network, kids can participate in the ‘Fun in the Sun’ contest in which winners can meet Oggy and the Cockroaches and win some fabulous prizes. Every year, we celebrate Chhota Bheem’s birthday in May on POGO. This year as well, the contest titled ‘Bheem ka Badaa Party’ will gratify 5 lucky winners with a special birthday party organized by POGO at their homes with Chhota Bheem as the guest of honour! Each contest will have an online leg as well.”

Nina Elavia Jaipuria too shared Nick’s marketing plans. She said, “In order to create maximum buzz, the contest will be supported by a 360 degree marketing campaign across the country. This includes promotion across various general entertainment channels on television and print ads in kids’ supplements of various news dailies. Radio spots and RJ mentions on leading radio stations will be used to create buzz in the cities locally. In order to ensure that Nick covers all touchpoints frequented by kids, the channel will also organize various below the line promotions like mall activities and Ninja parties. Nick will also engage the GenY through regular contest updates, spot quizzes and sneak peaks on www.nickindia.com and www.facebook/nickindia.”

Thus with the interesting line up from all the various kids channels, there is no doubt that they are in for a blast this summer holidays and are sure to be glued to their television sets!
