English movie channels are not lagging behind in celebrating Independence day!

15th August is a day celebrated with much fervour and patriotism in our country. The day brings back memories of our independence and to this day holds much importance for our compatriots. The medium of television too has it’s own way of making this day memorable for their viewers. Hence we see most movie channels airing and showcasing some of their best offerings befitting the occasion. Courage, strength and bravery and valour are the qualities highlighted through these movies. We at Adgully conducted a research to find out the efforts movie channels are making to make this an auspicious day for their viewers.

The perfect watch on the occasion of Independence Day comes from Zee Studio which brings to its viewers English Vinglish, the story of a quiet, sweet tempered housewife who endures small slights from her well educated husband and daughter everyday because of her inability to speak and understand English. She is resourceful and open-minded but somehow these traits don't get noticed by them.

While visiting her sister’s place in Manhattan she decides to enroll in an English Learners class and meets a host of new people who teach her to value herself beyond the narrow perspective of her family. With Sridevi playing the lead, the highly acclaimed movie has won accolades like 2013 Zee Cine Awards, 58th Filmfare Awards, 19th Annual Colors Screen Awards,11th Stardust Awards , 8th Star Guild Apsara Awards.

STAR Movies wants its viewers to celebrate this day more than they would any other holiday. With the exciting line up of movies, the viewers can experience real freedom with the most iconic movies. The festival will air the following movies from 9am to 9pm. The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Death Race, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Bourne Legacy and The Mummy: Tomb of the dragon emperor.

Sony PIX too has come up with yet another original and innovative property for its viewers. To break the clutter around channel association the property has been termed ‘PIXATHON’.

Pixathon showcases various celebrated movies of popular franchises back to back which will have audience glued to their seats. It is one such initiative by the channel that will bring them  another step closer to their  audience So this Independence Day swinging its way to the small screen is the SPIDERMAN Pixathon. The fans can catch all four parts of the web slinging superhero back to back on August 15.
