DD acquires sum of Rs.31.2 Cr in the 24th e-auction

Freedish, Doordarshan’s DTH (Direct to Home) platform fetches 31.2 crores by selling five slots in the 24th e-auction.

The reserve price on slots had been increased from Rs. 3.7 crores to Rs.4.30 crores by Doordarshan before the 24th e-auction.

The already existing channels namely India News, News 24 and entertainment channel Manoranjan TV have bid their way and got their contract extended by another year on the DTH platform.

The two new channels on the platform are Hindi news channel Aaj Tak and Hindi entertainment channel Big Magic.

The channel News 24 is the channel that bid the highest among the five winners. News 24 had won the slot at Rs 6.5 crore. Followed by News 24 Manoranjan TV bid amount of 6.4 crores and India news won the slot at Rs.6.3 crores.

Aaj Tak and Big Magic channels, both being the pay channels had bid Rs 6 crores to enter the DTH platform.

The telecast of the channel Aaj Tak has been approved by the TV Today network on Freedish platform in order to increase rural viewership.

Doordarshan DDG (Comm. & Sales/ IR & IMD/ DCD) CK Jain when asked about the e-auction said, “We have mopped up Rs 31.2 crore from five slots. Aaj Tak and Big Magic are new additions. They are paying Rs 6 crore each. News 24, Manoranjan TV and India News have extended their contract. They are paying Rs 6.5 crore, Rs 6.4 crore and Rs 6.3 crore respectively”
